Summary
Avengers Coffee Shop AU - sort of, set post-Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 3, and Thor 2: Dark World. Sort of. Time lines are altered.
Sam finds a little hole-in-the-wall cafe one particularly bad day and it becomes his preferred place to get coffee and a smile from the purple-wearing barrista to brighten his day. As it turns out, this cafe isn't frequented by the regular coffee-shop types, but rather the strangest people you'd imagine, including mutant teenagers, superheros, schizophrenic mercs, and even the occasional villain on their day off.
Chapter 8-11 have been edited, separating Nadine's story line from what I am going to post as it's own story now called "Rescue." Why did I do this? Because Thor fucked everything up, and the Loki/kid story line got WAY more involved than I intended, and in order to get my brain working again, and unconfuse myself, I'm separating the stories. They happen in the same universe, paralleled, but will now be separated for clarity.

“Hey,” he says, and his voice cracks. He coughs (more pain from his cracked ribs, which he registers and dismisses quickly) and tries again, keeping his voice as calm and as steady as he can. “Hey. Bruce.” He readjusts his grip, trying to pull Bruce back from wherever he goes when Hulk starts coming up to the surface. “I need you to stay with me. Okay?”

For no particular reason, the idea that Thor could get sick had never crossed anyone's mind. But it turns out that it's not impossible. When Thor falls ill, he has two strong presences standing by.
The Hulk shows his tender side as he soothes him into sleep and Bruce's voice is a balm for the suffering he faces when he wakes.

When his consciousness returns, the first thing he registers is the blanket that has been loosely thrown over him. It makes him feel much too warm but his body is so wracked with shivers that he understands the reasoning behind it.
The second thing of note is that the firm, unyielding muscle beneath him is gone. Instead, it’s been replaced by the soft flesh of a smaller figure, who’s chest he seems to be lying on. He groans and a hand immediately slips into his hair, all five fingers this time, smaller than those of the Hulk’s.
“... ‘M I not... crushing you?” Thor slurs through the haze. The chest under his head jiggles as the owner chuckles. -
