Summary
Lance has a secret: he’s only half-human.
His other half is Avian, a reportedly violent, blood-thirsty winged species, and why he and his family have had to live their whole lives hiding their wings from both hunters and scientists who would kill them for trophies and experiment on them in the name of the greater good. But space is different than Earth. In space there are all sorts of aliens and technically speaking he supposes he’s one too. And, he’s thinking, that maybe… maybe he can trust Voltron with his family’s secret.
But before Lance can get the chance to tell them he’s kidnapped by a scientist. And as he finds himself strapped down to a table for dissection he realizes that maybe space isn’t quite so different after all.

Summary
During a mission gone wrong, Lance finds himself in a position that can't be helped. The best he can do is mute his mic and hope the others don't hear his screams.
Lance has to amputate his leg, Keith finds him and brings him back to the castle of lions, and Shiro helps him get back on his feet having been in the same position Lance is now. The only problem is, Lance and Keith's trauma go deeper than the others realize. Coincidentally, their shared trauma also brings them closer together.

“His birthday’s in October,” Shiro says automatically. “No, this is something else.”
“Well, anything for Keith,” Hunk says. He means it.
“Yeah,” Shiro says. “Specifically: have you fallen in love with him?”
