"Ace buried his head in his hands, he wanted to scream, but he was only barely able to breathe, it felt like a punch in the gut, sucking all the life out of him.
He looked up at the doctors, his eyes almost begging the two to lie to him, even though he knew there was no other answer, a fragment of hope in him still tried to convince him otherwise.
“Is Pops really...?”
Ace survived Marineford, but was it worth it? Living with no regrets is out of the question after going through such a horrible tragedy. Now he just needs to keep living, which might be the hardest thing of all.

However, more than friendship and sworn brotherhood sparks between Sabo and Ace.

A newspaper gets slammed on the table beside his mug of coffee. Marco does little more than grunt in acknowledgment of it. Besides him Ace falls off his spot on the bench, the younger had been half asleep and Thatch managed to straddle him awake. That however gets a small smile and a snort into his coffee cup out of Marco.
“Could you two explain yourself!?”
Marcoe looks a bit closer at the paper on the table, not sure what it is that has Thatch so high-strung. On the front page, there is a picture of him and Ace mid-kiss on the battlefield from yesterday. It's a really good picture and Marco isn’t sure how they even managed to take it. Below the headline reads; Whitebeard’s Phoenix Marco and Fire Fist Ace: Love on the High Seas? It is a bit cheesy for his taste and a quick scan of the article reveals that it's mostly speculation about the relationship between him and Ace, with a section about whether pirates should be allowed to love people like that. Honestly, Marco doesn’t really care for the thing.

In the City of Raftel there is a hero, Phoenix and his partner Spade. Spade works behind the scenes, directing Phoenix with his trusty computer skills but one day Spade begins to act strangely when a new, though in truth he was actually an old, villains rises up and threatens their carefully balanced partnership.
What was worse was that there was nothing Phoenix could do to help Spade. He didn't know Spade's true identity and Spade didn't know his. So Phoenix would just have to sort this out himself and try to help Spade, and do his school work, and keep his family in line, and try not panic over his high school crush Portgas D. Ace!

Summary
A series of interconnected fanfic's that explore Portgas D. Ace as a character. Some of the books deal with very heavy topics such as self-worth issues, misinformation, government cover-ups and infanticide (the murder of children below the age of 1).
I give my take on how I think Ace deals with his childhood trauma and the conflict it stirs not only in him but other people. I also explore a potential relationship between him and Phonix Marco.
Not all of these books are from Ace's POV, some are from Marco's and some are from Garp's POV. I also explore a headcanon of Rouge having been a great pirate captain at the same time as both Roger and Whitebeard. As such I use a few Oc's to act as her former crewmates.
