After his defeat of The Anti-Monitor at the beginning of time with the aid of the Paragons, Oliver Queen/The Spectre awakens in the present day on the island of Lian Yu and is informed by The Voice that the new universe is a very different place from the world he remembers, but it still suffers from corruption and injustice and needs a force like The Spectre to mete out justice where human laws fail. Grieving the loss of his family and his universe, Oliver throws himself into his new role, and becomes a force that even heroes dare not stand against.

He’s a detective and Jim knows the type through an intimate knowledge of himself -- the fact that it happened is always gonna outclass the why.
