Waking up in a weird town in America without knowing how the fuck he ended up there, with knowledge about a bunch of things he didn't know before, and a weird floating screen that seem to want to help him, all he can do is survive.
But first, he needs to find a place to hide, since there's nazis after him. Well, it is hunting season... and there's nazis around... The problem brought its own solution!

Henry thought he did an excellent job, all things considered.
Sure, he planned to die soon, but he had done his best to help beforehand. Not by playing the role of hero or villain, but through handing out whatever information regarding the future he could. He wasn't a respected figure when rambling about Endbringer attacks, but he was hardly sticking around to see the aftermath.
Now he could pat himself on the back and wait for the Simurgh to do her work. Madison was a doomed city, and death was preferable to the misery of Worm.
But he didn’t die. Instead, he’s trapped in a quarantined city with everyone believing he's some sort of prophet.
Not to mention he’s a cape now. Fantastic.

The story first follows Ian Strutt: a lazy, reluctant, newly triggered cape, who just wants an easygoing life. As a tinker with a specialization in acoustics, he does everything in his power to just be left alone.
This is an original story with original characters that takes place in the world of Earth-bet that Wildbow created, with few intentional deviations on details he just mentioned in passing. But it is intended to be able to be read by people who have not read Worm or don't even know anything about Worm.
Not intended to be an AU. Takes place in 2007 pre-canon. Do correct me if I get anything majorly wrong lore-wise. Not a self insert either. The content warning for Worm also applies here.

Inspired Inventor- You are the world's first Tinker 12. Each day you have five charges which can be spent to improve your tinker abilities within a specific area or theme. A single charge would make you a good tinker within an area, around Tinker 4-5. Each additional charge doubles your abilities(around a two-point bump up). A single charge in Cybernetics can have you creating robotic limbs centuries ahead of modern technology, spend some on medicine, and create a cure for cancer within the hour. All fields are applicable for this power, meaning spend some charges on Political Science and create forms of government that are overall superior to any we have on Earth.
