Summary
If they were in battle, there would be no question. He’d die for any of his comrades in an instant, an honorable sacrifice and a martyr for their cause. But would he trust them with a blade if he was the one staring it down? Could he deliver himself to Priwen, unsure of whether they’d grant him clemency for the crime of turning leech?
Geoffrey knew he'd have to tell the Guard eventually. It's just that 'eventually' was approaching far too quickly for his tastes.

Summary
How could he have won against someone so efficient in taking down vampires and so determined to kill him, when all Jonathan had wanted had been to find a way to cooperate with the hunter? For most of the fight he had pulled his punches and by the time he’d realized he couldn’t afford to, it had been too late.
Or: Reid loses the fight, but McCullum doesn’t kill him – otherwise this story would just be a death screen

Summary
After an exhausting and embarrassing case, Gavin needs a peaceful evening, but his brother has other plans. Elijah had not forgotten what happened between Gavin and RK900 and now he has a special gift for Gavin's birthday. A stressful diner is waiting for them.
++++++++++++As if it were the most natural thing in the world, Elijah fucking Kamski went through the police station, as if he owned the place. Without any bodyguard or his usual escort android.
Now it was over.
His brother had come to ruin his life. Probably just out of a damn mood.++++++++++++
The front man with an old-fashioned cane was nobly dressed in a long black coat with a dark red collar. Underneath he wore a dark gray vest and matching suit trousers. The stiff, white collar of his shirt was complemented by a dark red tie. His dress shoes had been polished to shine. His black hair was combed back, his sides were cut shorter. The narrow face was framed by a dense beard, which looked well-groomed. A broad forehead was followed by low-set eyebrows, which gave him a serious look and underlined the intelligent expression of the gray blue eyes.
“Gavin? Do you greet your father in this way?” -

McCullum raised a single eyebrow. "You don't think drawing more attention to the skal who does charity work for other skals might not have some sort of backlash? You can't think of a single organization that might not appreciate a skal being a pillar of a community?"
Ichabod scoffed, "I suspect the activities of a shelter for the poor and in need is somewhat below Lord Redgrave's consideration."
McCullum leaned in. “A shelter for the poor and in need, that an ever present thorn in his side regularly attends.”
“... he wouldn’t,” Ichabod quietly protested, though it sounded like he was trying to convince himself.
McCullum straightened, eyebrow raised.
“Damn it all!” Ichabod shouted to the ceiling. “But it would be so… so petty!” He took a deep breath and sighed, continuing to his room as McCullum, having made his point, let him pass. “I still think there’s an excellent chance Ascalon won’t do anything against Sean, especially since it would upset Old Bridget. Lord Redgrave might be an ekon and she a skal, but he hasn’t done anything to eliminate what must be an eternal reminder of his shame in centuries. That means he either holds some strange respect or guilt for his wife, or he’s afraid of her.”
McCullum was not convinced. “Maybe. All the same, I’ll take a look tomorrow night, see if I spot any ekons spying on our friendly and irritatingly influential skal.”
Ichabod smiled, “Thank you, McCullum. I appreciate that, and Sean will be glad to know you’re worried about him.”
McCullum scoffed, “I’m not wor—” but the door was closed.

Browning, he cursed to himself from a balcony two buildings away. Plenty of drive, sure, and zero foresight to use it. He’d run the Guard into the ground… and a piece of him that sounded an awful lot like Teasedale wondered why he was upset about that. The Guard had been everything to him. He didn’t like knowing they could be ruined by poor management of all things. Even if they did think he deserved to die. Sometimes, he agreed with them.

Summary
Jonathan stops his pacing and grips the backrest of the chair until it creaks, looking over at Geoffrey finally. “McCullum – Geoffrey – what am I to you?” He licks his lips.
Metal, and molten, and red.
He gets no answer, or perhaps he does when Geoffrey rises from the bed, kicks aside the chair and grabs hold of Jonathan to kiss him, so much hungrier than the last time.
“Do you make me do this? Are you making me feel these things, driving me mad?” Geoffrey asks with the punctuation of another vehement kiss. “You'd convinced me you only feed from evil, Jonathan. I’ve been made to see the length of my life, forward and back in this irony, and now you know it. You know I'm no good. Not in the eyes of any god anymore. And now, there's no hope for my soul.”

"Your temper will be your undoing hunter. You swing that sword around as if you're compensating for something you lack." Swansea’s voice was a grating noise in Jonathan’s ear and had been for the last four hours that his progeny have bickered and squabble ceaselessly around the hospital and for some unknown reason, whether it was their connection to their Sire or Jonathan’s own misfortune, but they managed to loop their way from Swansea’s office all the way into Jonathan’s. The doctor wasn’t sure what was worse, these two or the early days of his residency to the hospital when Doctors Ackroyd and Strickland went at it like a married couple.
"I don't need a fancy title ‘n a position of leadership handed to me, Swansea. Least I've the common sense not to destroy half of London with my negligence." Geoffrey sniped back, earning a sudden sharp gasp from Edgar who wagged his finger at the hunter in preparation for his rising retort.
Jonathan had heard enough, frustrated he snapped. "ENOUGH!"
Swansea and Geoffrey both startled where they stood on opposite sides of the ekon’s office. Swansea had been idly fidgeting with the books on the doctor’s shelves while Geoffrey took a lazy seat on one of the exam tables as if he owned the place, leaving muddy prints on the wood that only further irked Jonathan as he made a mental note to scrub the surface clean once he was rid of his snarling progeny.
"Neither of you have a pedestal to stand upon in this argument." Jonathan stated firmly, watching Swansea tilt his head and shuffle away from the bookshelf with one hand lingering against it as if he could hide from his Maker’s stern disapproval behind the collection of medical textbooks and encyclopedias.
The administrator looked put off as he stammered out. "Jonathan I-"
Jonathan turned his attention solely on Swansea and narrowed his eyes at the man, pinning him in place with words made jagged with his boiling anger. Rarely did he ever lose his patience and this was one of those times. "You neglected your oaths as a doctor and as an Administrator, Edgar. Your actions led to an outbreak of a virus that nearly destroyed London and potentially endangered the world. To put it frankly, were it not for you, I wouldn't have become what I am right now."
Geoffrey snorted in amusement from where he was perched.
Swansea shot a glare at the hunter before turning his focus back on Jonathan. "I was trying to help."
"You were about as helpful as a shoe for a fish." The Irishman drawled.
Swansea scowled at the man once more and opened his mouth to speak but Jonathan cut him off. "You have a lot to say when you were just as much at fault, Geoffrey."
Geoffrey barked. "What are ya talking about leech?"
Jonathan crossed his arms at the rising challenge in his progeny’s voice. "Tell me, in what frame of a rational mind does it occur to you that the appropriate time to have a Great Hunt is during the greatest epidemic in London's history? Explain that to me, McCullum."
Geoffrey growled, waving a dismissive hand towards Swansea as he spat. "The city streets were crawling with leeches."
It was Jonathan’s turn to snort in derision at that. "But were you actually focused on the lesser vampires such as Skals and sewer beasts?"
Geoffrey looked away, shooting a filthy look towards Swansea who seemingly preened in Jonathan’s peripheral. Oh, he had yet to finish with the administrator, that was for certain. But first-
"No, you were hunting Ascalon and their members. I regret to inform you that Ascalon was making more of an attempt to stop the epidemic than Priwen was. May I remind you that while you were recruiting people to your organization, that that is exactly how you spread a deadly outbreak. You were counterproductive to your endeavors, McCullum. What would have happened had Priwen been infected enmass by this disease? Hm?" He was eager to hear that answer, that was for certain. Though Jonathan didn’t miss the sound of Swansea snickering by the shelves as if Jonathan’s redirected ire swept clean his own filthy trail of putrid decision making.
"We have contingency plans leech." Geoffrey barked out matter-of-fact.
Jonathan laughed, genuinely laughed at that. "Is that kept beside the bottle of whiskey by your bed? Because I'm certain your liver isn't thanking you for that.” He then added. “Rampant alcoholism after the fact when every other plan fails is not an appropriate response to a world ending nightmare. If Priwen was more proactive in their efforts, they would recognize the answers to their problems lie somewhere other than the bottom of a beer bottle.”
