However, nine days of not seeing their boss was starting to make the group worry that something had happened to him.
Those worries are founded when a call comes in with a simple sentence that changes everything: "I have your boss."

Havelock is a hunter, living on the outskirts of Lothorn, the smallest in a dwindling number of bastions left. When he finds a beast capable of speech, a beautiful, intelligent creature, he cannot bring himself to kill her. The beast in question is desperate and afraid of death, so a deal is struck, she will stay until the black moon falls, then, they will see if they can part ways at all.
A slow, tension riddled, gothic romance inspired by bloodborne, Eldritch horror, and Frankenstein

Summary
This is my first ever written work and is inspired heavily by Assignment Risk by Alephkeller, Black Powder by TheSignalRemains, You're Always So Warm by Kitty_D, and Making an Example by Snekguy. Keep in mind that I have no formal training in writing or even any basic training. I am simply copying techniques and structures I liked from better authors than myself. So please accept my apologies for my lack of knowledge on sentence structure, grammar, where to break paragraphs, and how to use dialogue.
The MC, kingdom, and most of the other human characters have no names or general defining features because I always enjoyed stories that did not have established characters. I use "you" instead of "I" in all situations simply because I want the reader to be able to transport themselves into this world. Unfortunately, however, I did model the MC mostly after myself. My personal beliefs (not political), how I would react to things, my real world skills and knowledge, etc.
Hopefully the tags give you enough information to go off of, but I want the story to be more or less experienced as it's read. This is my little ego tax, sorry.

This is my second ever written story, so please keep in mind that I have no formal training in writing. I am simply learning as I go and copying structure from better authors than myself. Regardless, please give me feedback and critique!
The protagonist of the story does not have a name, race, set age, or any other defining feature. The MC is meant as a self-insert character so that any reader can imagine themselves as the main character of this story. The protagonist is simply referred to as "Anon", "Anonymous", or "You" throughout the entire text. The only canon features are that the MC is male and relatively young (20-27).
The tags should give a general idea of what the story is about, but there are twists as soon as the first chapter, so I don't want to spoil anything in the summary. Sorry!
