"No need to thank me for not being Hera," Amphitrite dismissed. Percy took a sip of tea. "That is what you meant, isn't it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. For once, Percy learned from his mistakes and stayed quiet, though he did give her a bashful smile to confirm the sentiment. "Hm. Well, either way, I owe you thanks. Not many children would agree to spy on their father for me."
Percy put the cup down. "I'm not spying on him," he reasoned. Amphitrite scoffed. "I just happen to be in many of the places he is when he's in the mortal world." A long pause followed, and Percy rolled his eyes. "Yes, he was seeing a mortal woman. Her name is Lea."
"You owe me twenty of your mortal dollars, child."
Percy bitterly slapped the paper bill on the table between them.

After a long night of drinking by a beach on Long Island, Arthur finds this kid that can talk to fish just as well as he can. And he knew that if it was up to him, this kid would never go through what he went through, not knowing how to deal with his powers and feeling like a fish out a water (and wasn't that a riot.)
He didn't mean for this kid to attach himself to him like a barnacle.
He didn't mean to accidentally start to like hanging with the damn kid.
And he sure as hell didn't know how the fuck to feel when he discovered the kid wasn't even part Atlantean at all.
(In which Arthur Curry sort of becomes Percy Jackson's mentor figure, accidental babysitter, and cool older brother. Oh, and Percy is sort of Atlantis's version of Jesus, but that's another story.)

This is a story about Thyssa, a disgusting monster who becomes a pretty girl with the power of a sinister, possibly cursed amulet. It would be very convenient for those around her if she'd realize she doesn't need the amulet, and learn a valuable lesson about Being Yourself.
But she...does not do that. Instead, she keeps the amulet, unwilling to part with her humanity, however artificial.
And anyone who wants to take that from her, well, she'll just have to fight them.
