Multimouse merely nodded. She had no idea how to reply.
“It’s different for you, of course. But maybe you were also cut apart in the past, so you’re double-cut…”
“Being cut sounds scary.”
Kagami also nodded. “Being cut apart sounds scarier. But maybe if you find the right other person to be with, it’s less scary.”
“I’m not scared,” said Multimouse.

Maybe twenty minutes ago, Kagami had made some comment about wanting to go start dinner, but Marinette had just squeezed her in a vice grip until she sighed and lay her head back against the pillow.
Marinette couldn't tear herself away from Kagami's heartbeat.
Not after the Akuma a couple hours prior that made it stop.

Lucifer could think of a million-and-one reasons to distrust Alastor, but if there’s ever a lesson that the universe is happy to teach him time and time again, it’s that mortals have a peculiar habit of being so much more than they seem. Suddenly, those million-and-one reasons don’t seem to hold much weight, especially when revelations lead to him needing to rely on the one sinner who makes his life a living hell.
