Summary
Harry Potter had been able to see people others couldn't since he could remember; he didn't know it was something bad until he could speak and Aunt Petunia would hit him with the spatula for his freakishness. Still, they made good company occasionally, at least the ones who weren't yelling all the time. Regulus, in particular, was a constant guardian; he taught him, was never unkind, and even protected him when his incorporeality allowed.
(Or the one when being touched by death left a lasting impression on one Harry James Potter, leaving one Regulus Arcturus Black to raise his brother's godson. As a ghost. Who knew the afterlife would be so interesting?)

Summary
Sirius studied Remus’ face. He was curious what he thought of all of this, the only one of them who didn’t have a mark– theoretically– and the only one with a muggle parent. Muggles didn’t get marks, he knew. If Remus’ parents were soulmates, then they wouldn’t know it. He wondered if there was a way to tell, though. If they could just feel it, somehow, even without the help of some magical fate.
Because it seemed like something you would just know, just from being near someone, from being close enough to them, from being in the same space. Like their souls would attract like magnets or like water droplets traveling down a window, waiting to merge until the last moment when they realized they were on the same path, and then they’d become one.
Was that fate, Sirius wondered?
He realized Remus was staring back at him, his eyes puzzled and curious and warm.
Sirius looked away first and didn’t look back, pushing down something heavy and impossible in his chest.

Summary
James Potter was confused. Why did Regulus Black have a personal vendetta against him? And when did he start to find it so attractive? More importantly, how did the urge to hex him go hand in hand with the urge to throw him against a wall and do things you definitely shouldn’t do to your Best Friends Little Brother? It was all very confusing.
As for Regulus Black? He’s far from confused. He’s been in love with James Potter for as long as he can remember. That didn’t matter though. He’d sooner cut out his own tongue than let his affections roam free. The only place this secret was going was to the grave.
Unfortunately, Evasions of Ardour lead you closer to the source, and it turns out that Confusion and Suppression seem to be a Volatile mix. Add in Sexual Tension and Denial? The outcome will be cataclysmic.
Thus, the only plausible solution is to have a one-night stand at a party. It wouldn’t have been detrimental, really. That is, if either of them knew how to count.
They don’t.
