He told him about how they used to know each other, in some other life that’s now gone to everyone except for Peter. Ned was over the moon to learn he used to be friends with THE Spider-Man. Still, it’s not all about being friends with Spider-Man—or at least Peter hopes it isn’t. No, it’s just the fact that they get on so darn well. For Peter it’s like he never lost him, sometimes he can almost pretend he never made the mistake of asking Dr. Strange for that spell that eventually came back to bite him in the ass, he can almost pretend the three of them went off to MIT together and now share an apartment together and… and… And well, for Ned it must be more like he’s just found a person he instantly clicks with. Another person he instantly clicks with. He seems to have a lot of those. A big group of friends he made in college, drawn in by that eccentrically charming personality of his.
OR
Peter's on that daily grind of being Spider-Man and getting beat up every other day while struggling to regain a friendship that he doubts is even there anymore. Meanwhile Ned is just trying hard to be there for him even though Peter keeps pulling away.

Ned had a stalker.
For the past few weeks, a guy had been following him. Not all day, not even every day, but certainly enough to be noticeably and unequivocally stalking. The guy had even crashed their housewarming party! He forgave him for that, he brought a very nice bouquet of flowers. He had been nice, too. And hot.Spider-Man had a stalker.
Ever since he started getting headaches, someone had been following him. Not a lot, not very often, and never as Peter Parker, but enough that he couldn't think they were anything other than a stalker. They were too good, he would have never noticed if it wasn't for the Spidey Sense. It probably had to do with the app tracking down his movements, though. -

Peter knows that this fake. He knows that he could give quite literally any answer and Ned would accept it wholeheartedly. Granted, how he answers would earn him certain caveats moving forward but the point still stands. The floor is his and he's failing to stick the landing.
Ned notices his internal distress and breaks character to give him a slight encouraging smile. A reminder that beneath the facade he is still Ned, the man he loves. Peter takes a fortifying breath in and goes with the first thing that comes to his mind.
"I am a dedicated individual sir and I would be thrilled to work with such an accomplished CEO of…" he trails off words failing to manifest as he flounders as to what the fake CEO of the fake company he is supposedly going to be working for does.
Ned, wonderful, handsome, love of his life, picks up his slack. "CEO of sex."
OR
Ned is the CEO of sex and Peter is his secretary.

A heat that comes on too quickly lands him at Weasel's bar, the domain of one very Alpha Wade Wilson, who takes one look at Peter and knows they they are meant to be mates.
Wade doesn't think Peter wants to be matched with an Alpha at all, much less an Alpha that looks like him, so he keeps things platonic, ignoring his feelings so Peter feels safe.

After a few days, it finally hits him that any rational person would see it that way.
Ned didn't know so did it matter at all, if his sweaters went missing, if his back up glasses found their way to Peter's home where he can put them on and see nothing but blur?
So what if he watched him sleep? It was stress relief- watching his chest rise and fall, after a terrible day or a horrifying dream.
On a particularly rough day, he'd actually made a nest, right outside Ned's window. Still even he knew that was too far.
Those are the days Peter tries to keep to a minimum. Still his desire to see him would usually outweigh any rational thought.

“Nope. I’m not buying it this time,” Kristen says shortly, pulling her wild hair back in a curt pony tail and slipping her blouse back on. She turns and checks her makeup in his bedroom vanity, reapplying lip gloss with a smack. “The first time was funny. Second time was awkward. Third time? Third time makes this a definite *thing* and I, for one, do not need that in my life!”
