Summary
Winter, 1942. Stalingrad is no longer a city but a hellscape of destruction. By day clouds of smoke rise from the rubble into the frigid sky, burning and blinding. When night comes it falls scorching and howling, an inferno of cold. Slow victory is measured not by meters, city blocks or even buildings but by bodies.
Dark is the night and you are not sleeping. Neither is he. In the gloom of the shelled warehouse basement, a long narrow room lit only by dimmed lanterns and the occasional meager campfire, his eyes find yours.
A stranger to the squad, but that’s not unusual in the chaos that is Stalingrad. His hair is not close-cropped but dark and lank, falling across a handsome, pale face in which odd magenta eyes glow. His clothing, too, is not standard-issue Red Army but tall soft boots and a dark, fur-trimmed cape. Again, nothing unusual. Here, men do what it takes to keep warm in the brutal conditions.
“Your hat,” he whispers from across the narrow corridor where you are propped on opposite sides. He touches his head, drawing your attention to the white ushanka you are wearing. “It looks very warm.”

Dabi melts into the shadows—the rough purple-black scars on his face, his dark clothing, his lank hair. The only parts of him that holds any light are his eyes, which are a startling shade of light blue. Something about those eyes is familiar, but Hawks can’t put his finger on what.
“A proposition?” Dabi says. “Is this some kind of fetish, a hero/villain thing? What would the press say?”
Hawks couldn’t give less of a damn what the press says about anything. Chances are, when this is all over, his reputation is going to be sullied by far worse than a sex scandal. That knowledge makes it easy to smile, to laugh, at how ridiculous Dabi is.
“Maybe later,” Hawks says, waving an idle hand. “The proposition I’m talking about is a bit more serious. One your boss is gonna want to hear, I bet.”
Five times Hawks let Dabi get too close, and one time he got too close, himself.

As you spiral into an obsession in finding out what they were really up to, you find yourself in quite the dilemma.
Set in the second POV, and starts during ACWNR. A slow burn enemies-to-lovers Levi x Female Reader fic that deals with obsession, rebuilding trust, overcoming family dynamics, mental health issues, and perseverance. Will follow along canon storyline with slight divergence here and there.
