Exchange fic for the Steddie Winter Oneshot Exchange!
“To holding out.” Eddie said quietly and took the shot, seeing Steve’s eyes widen slightly before his own shut quickly, Eddie’s entire body seizing at the strong burn of ethanol hitting the back of his throat. Steve waited a moment before taking his own shot, holding his breath for a moment before releasing it with a loud noise. Eddie wiped his mouth and Steve turned around to refill the glass. Eddie strained to listen, his ears thrumming with the din of his own heartbeat and the sounds of the house party. The man's voice was barely there, but Eddie heard it, all vim and vigour disguised in a whisper.
“We’ll see about that.”

Eddie accidentally saves Steve's life which sets into a motion a sequence of events where Steve desperately tries to balance the scales. Eddie does his best to prevent that.

In 2073, the world is still moving forward despite arid climates and the quick relay race between man and machine. Within the walls of the hospital center at Vecna Labs, Steve Harrington has just woken up after an accident inside the depths of the classified sections of the lab. Stricken with amnesia, he is brought to Edward Munson’s home to recover and to be observed during his recovery after experimental treatments had brought him back from the brink of death.
In Edward’s home, Steve finds question after question. Why does Eddie seem to hate him so much? What do all the observations have to do with his accident? What exactly is going on with his malfunctioning mind, and what does this all have to do with Creel and Vecna’s tech monopoly? All the while, Steve struggles with the feeling that there was something more to his relationship with Eddie that he can’t quite understand.

“Yeah, because there’s a ton of skiing opportunities in Hawkins,” Max said sarcastically, as though he hadn’t already considered that. Steve shook his head as he sat down his nearly empty mug. He glanced at Eddie, who was attempting to step into the suit but kept getting his feet caught.
“No, but there’s great skiing in Aspen.” Everyone began muttering under their breath, whispering about how Steve had lost his mind. He let them continue for just a moment longer until he caught Eddie staring at him, all doe-eyed with a look of sudden realization on his face. Steve stood up, reaching behind the couch to retrieve a previously hidden envelope containing ten plane tickets.
“By the way, that’s where we’re going tomorrow.”
