Stede had spent an eternity with his head in books trying to escape a stifling domesticity, having found it uncomfortable, wishing for a life of excitement and daring do. Only now, with Ed, he found he wanted to make a home. Domesticity had won a long and bloody battle and Stede was pleased beyond words.
