Summary
It had been a long and emotional night. The fancy party had ended in mayhem and fire. And acts of gentle heroism.
Ed was feeling a bit foolish, all dressed up with nowhere to go.
Then Stede had presented him with his red, silk handkerchief, neatly folded, and placed it in his pocket, in the moonlight.
Driven by an impulse neither can identify, they decide the evening's entertainments don't have to end, and embark on a friendly card game, spiced up with a few harmless wagers.
Stede couldn’t shake the thought that there had been something between them. Something fragile but enticing. A sparkling, magnetic sort of pull that had come into being when Stede had placed the handkerchief in Ed’s pocket and had lasted beyond their slightly awkward goodnight’s, drawing them to turn towards each other, even as they tried to part.
Ed had debated, back and forth, with himself about whether or not to give in to the weird instinct he felt. The one luring him to go to Stede, like the thrall of a siren’s song. He had leaned on the rail, watching the moon encrust the crests of the waves with diamonds, and had tried to work out why he had come so close to kissing Stede.

Summary
Aziraphale heard the footsteps and scrape of the lock, which gave him a split second of warning before the door swung open. It was not enough time to prepare him. Perhaps no time would’ve been enough to prepare him. He’d thought to see Crowley as he always was, impeccably dressed, polished and impenetrable. Maybe even a little slurred with drink or sleep, if things had been really bad in the last month.
The Crowley in front of him was—there was no other word for it—soft. His hair was mussed in places, sticking up on one side. He wore no glasses, and there were wrinkles from bedsheets across the side of his face. His feet were bare, and he wore a silky black robe loosely tied across his hips, exposing a long V of skin that started above his navel and traveled tantalizingly up to his clavicles. Aziraphale was so transfixed by the sharp jut of that collarbone that he completely missed the dumbfounded expression on Crowley’s face.

Summary
Ed never planned to see Stede Bonnet again, but after he learns Stede has been captured and is on his way to a short drop and a sudden stop, Ed declares no one gets to kill Stede but Ed himself. If that doesn't go as planned, well, Stede is far more wily than many give him credit for.
Or perhaps Ed is just a lying liar who lies.

Ed’s breath caught, like a fist closing around his throat, at the sight of Stede there in the brig, wringing his hands and squinting through the shadows. He looked tired and weak, more like the sickly version of himself Ed had first met after he was cut free of the noose aboard the Spanish ship.
Most unfairly of all, he was still the most beautiful man Ed had ever seen.

Stede’s fingers hover a few inches above Edward’s arm, hesitant to touch after– Well. After everything. Patience, he tells himself when there’s no immediate answer. Bites down on the words– apologies, explanations, excuses, more apologies– threatening to bubble out of his throat. Give him time. He deserves your patience, at least. Hand hovering awkwardly, aching to touch, he waits.

Stede didn't show, Ed went back to being Blackbeard, and despite the two crews having since reconciled to sail the Revenge together again, things remain awfully tense between the two co-captains.
Perhaps a late-night drinking game and a pinch of jealousy will sort that right out.

“Never have I ever...” Stede swallowed. Never had he ever.
“...shared my bed with a man,” he said, and the air quickly filled with murmurs, rising like buzzing insects around him.
“Hold on, be more specific. To sleep or to fuck?” Black Pete yelled out, and Stede plucked at invisible lint on his coat, avoiding the one pair of eyes he could feel pressing on him.
“To... eh... fuck,” he clarified. Technically, he had shared a bunk bed with Ed, even if the other man hadn't slept there.
“Buggered a man or been buggered by a man?” Fang pressed, and Stede waved his hands before his face as if to stave off the question like a pesky fly.
“Neither. Both.”
He shouldn't have picked this one. He wasn't even sure why he had done it. To provoke something, perhaps. To express his frustrations. To communicate something to... someone.
He didn't look at Ed.

Reality moves at a speed with which a dinghy in the Caribbean sea cannot compete. He saw movement on a small island, more of a rock really, and as he drew closer, heard familiar voices in the air. Dread ran down the length of his spine, beginning as a creeping, low sickness and rapidly turning to a cold wave washing through him. Fuck. Well, it had been nice to live a few hours without the constant gnaw of anxiety.

Summary
“You,” Ed starts to interrupt him, then stops, clearing his throat. His voice is almost— gritting, cracking in the middle. When he starts again, he’s stronger, but still— shaky. “You made me this? I mean— You made this? For me?”
Stede’s not entirely sure what he means by that, but he has that little bubbling sensation he always gets when Ed is making him happy. It’s this simmering, glowing joy that always rises inside him, like it’s going to blow him up. He’s already smiling.
“I did,” Stede says. Ed sits up properly beside him, and Stede nudges his shoulder, jostles him a bit. “I thought you could use something a little bit soft. Besides me, you know.”
He’s expecting Ed to tease him in response, but instead, he doesn’t speak. He just keeps staring down at the blanket, clutched between his fingers.

Summary
It hadn’t been a simple conversation, and it was never going to be. And it had resulted in possibly more unresolved issues than they had started with. So at that time, they had agreed that they were going to be in a fairly simple, slow, careful place until they figured it out further. And that could be oh so dangerous, but Ed had said one thing that had reassured Stede. One thing, one sentiment, that Stede, no matter what else was going on, could agree with:
“Look mate, I don’t know what it is or where it’s going. But what I do know is I like kissing you. Can we not just be there for now?”Stede doesn't really know about sex and Ed does. Ed doesn't really know about expressing his feelings, but Stede does. Together they learn.
Post Ep9 'Act of Grace' but instead Stede actually joins Ed on the escape and instead of starting new lives, they go back to the Revenge because they were pretty happy with that life...

Summary
After a lifetime to doing what was expected of him, Stede Bonnet finds himself jobless, disowned, divorced (happily) and newly out. He runs to the one place he had always felt safe: his late grandmother's summer home in Purple Bay, Nova Scotia where they had spent most of Stede's summer's together when he was a child.
It isn't the same without his grandmother Anne, of course. Stede misses her, misses his children, his ex wife Mary and even Mary's boyfriend Doug. Can he make a new life for himself here in this small town, can he carve out some happiness for himself? Can he make lasting friendships? Can he survive Ed, his neighbour across the road? He's easily the most beautiful person Stede has ever seen...

For the OFMD Reverse Bang 2023!
Stede Bonnet has been Ed’s best and worst and most and least too. His best friend, the first one he’s ever had. He's the worst mistake Ed's ever made with the worst possible consequence ripping his sense of excitement to shreds. He's been the most captivating thing Ed's ever encountered and the least reliable person he’s ever been naïve enough to trust blindly. Perhaps that’s why, after months of bitter despondency and feral anger, when Stede Bonnet hauls himself over the side of The Revenge, worse for the wear but glowing with sun (and decidedly not dead, despite a piano, and a jungle cat, and a cart if the papers are to be believed), and determination, and competency, Ed feels a myriad of things. Chief among them, a fury so deep it makes his bones ache and, more interestingly, a relief so sweet it's nearly worth the bottomless pit of self-loathing he’s been occupying since he’d last laid eyes on him.
