Halbrand dipped his head, and Galadriel’s heart jumped in anticipation, but his lips only grazed her cheek. “You’re the one who said ours was no chance meeting. We were brought together for a reason.”
“We should stay focused on the difficult journey ahead,” she whispered. “Distractions during the upcoming battle could be fatal.” This venture was only an expedition but would likely turn into something much deadlier.
“That is tomorrow’s concern, which I will treat with utmost seriousness and urgency,” Halbrand vowed. “But what of tonight?” He asked in a low voice, his lips hovering just above hers.
Galadriel could hardly breathe. And could think of no more excuses to not reach for what her heart greatly desired.

“And which outcome drove you to check?” he asked, his words tugging at the connection between them as though it were a net he could use to draw her to him. “My failure, or my success?”
She turned back to the stars overhead, blinking away both the illusion and the tears that tried to dampen her lashes, and could not allow herself to reply.

OR—Galadriel goes to stop the Dark Lord Sauron from enacting his plan to create the One Ring. But something goes wrong and they wake 4,000 years later, well into the Third Age, awoken by none other than Gandalf and four familiar Hobbits and one handsome ranger. The road is ever winding, but where does this one lead?

Summary
Galadriel and Halbrand are in Númenor. When she is thrown in jail for sedition against the Queen Regent, she and Halband find themselves alone and able to plan for the future. Galadriel is bent on continuing her quest to find Morgoth's Shadow, but Halbrand attempts to change her plans. He plants within her mind the idea that she should rest. Relax. Cease her journey. His words worm their way into her innermost being and what should have been the bridge to the next leg of her hunt for Sauron turns into an opportunity to help the Queen Regent with a problem of her own. As Galadriel works to avert a crisis heading for Numenor, she and Halbrand grow closer and closer, even to the point of falling in love.
But Galadriel doesn't know what lurks beneath the surface… That the very one she seeks is beneath her own passionate hands. That the destruction of Numenor resides in the intentions of the man she has come to love more than life itself.
*This is a canon-divergent fic, with things in Númenor happening differently than they do in The Rings of Power Season One.

When Galadriel resurfaces from the water, it is not Elrond that saves her. She is not in the gardens of Eregion at all, but adrift in the Sundering Seas. To save Middle-earth and prevent Sauron's return to power, Galadriel must learn to separate what it is from what it was, and what was from what will be. But Fate bends to no Elf or Man, for what is meant to be will always find its way.

“I think you should let me die, Galadriel.” He continued, even as her eyes widened in outrage and her mouth opened to stop his words. “Perhaps Manwë will find mercy for what Morgoth has left of me.” That, he knew, was unlikely.
She stopped short. Her jaw remained open. Perhaps, in another life, free of the ruined stains Morgoth had left on him, he would have found that endearing. For now, Sauron was tired. And scared of the judgment that awaited him. All he had ever wanted was order and a stable world.
Her voice was hard. “You’re a servant of Morgoth?”
“I was /the/ servant of Morgoth,” he replied.

Summary
The War of the Last Alliance never happened, the One Ring never forged, and the great Dark Lord gave up.
Sauron, without warning, abandoned all his plans and surrendered himself as a prisoner. Middle-earth returned to peace, and for three centuries Galadriel believed that would remain.
However, an evil force lurked in the shadows. Morgoth was returning, weaker, but still too powerful to be ignored.
In the caos, a desperate solution was offered: make Sauron an ally, binding him to Galadriel in ancient ceremony, that would keep his power and the dark lord himself in check, and together they would defeat the enemy. Once and for all.
