Summary
There are many things that Essek loves about Caleb.
He’d be lying if he said Caleb’s brain wasn’t one of them; he’s more than willing to admit that he finds intelligence and competence incredibly attractive. Having a partner who’s on equal mental footing with him- who occasionally outstrips him, even- is something he never thought to have, and is incredibly grateful for.
On top of that, Caleb is of course physically attractive as well. Twinkling blue eyes that crinkle at the corners when he smiles, hair that shines like spun copper, smatterings of freckles across his nose that darken when Caleb gets any kind of sun.
He’s kind, and he’s gentle, but it’s his patience Essek is currently occupied with.
Caleb’s terrible, obnoxious levels of patience.

Summary
The Chantry teaches that the Names upon a person’s skin are a gift from the Maker, a way for those who were meant to be together to find one another. They teach that the horrible burning one feels upon the death of their Name was punishment for Merafath's betrayal. All who lose their Name will know the pain that Andraste felt at the hands of her husband. But for Anders and Fenris, their Names are nothing but another source of suffering.

Fenris raises an eyebrow at that, confused. Anders has been to the mansion for cards often enough, but he hasn't seen the mage in a few weeks. If Hawke's searching for him, surely this is the last place she'd look.
"He's missing. No one's seen him in days."
The realisation dawns on him quickly enough. It is the last place she'd look, and Anders is not here either.

Summary
Astarion feels like a starving fox released into a pen of chickens.
His lean fingers pick at his cravat, easing out invisible wrinkles, his tongue tracing along his own fangs. His eyes dart over the street, his head full of new scents and sounds, pounding at the back of his skull. He can taste the pulses of the people that pass him by, can smell the blood that rushes through their veins, intoxicating in its temptation.
He feels like a ravenous animal, a stalking predator just barely blending in amongst a sea of prey. But whoever he finds, Cazador had instructed for them to still be breathing by the time Astarion brings them back. He can’t rip the throat from the first thing he sees, no matter how much he finds himself aching to. There’s an impossible emptiness inside of him now, a growing abyss, and he finds himself wanting.
(Or, Astarion and the prince who swept him off his feet long after he had given up on happy endings.)

Summary
Gale yelps as Astarion's very cold fingers find his midriff. Astarion laughs, burrowing deeper under Gale's robe.
“Ah-ha, Astarion, did you take an ice bath on the way here?” Gale protests.
“Well usually I wake up to somebody very ready to warm me up.” Astarion purrs.
“You know what they say; cold hands, warm heart,” Gale says, absently.
Astarion pinches him, gently.
“Ow!” Gale protests, “What, you're allowed to come and put your hands all over me but I'm not allowed to make comments like that?”
“You can do better, love,” Astarion says, sniffily. “That was practically lazy. I'm afraid I've become accustomed to a much higher calibre of charm.”
“Are you insinuating that I have somehow spoiled you, Astarion?”
“For anyone else, absolutely,” Astarion agrees, sadly.
Shadowheart sighs.
“Glad you two are as disgusting as ever,” she says.Series

Summary
A remix of Act 2 in which Gale gets more of a character arc resolution.
“Gods damn it Gale!”
Astarion leaps over him. The guard, poised to land an entirely excessive final blow to Gale’s skull, topples backwards with a knife in his gut. The second pierces his neck, sending him crashing to the ground. Astarion yanks his blades back, and drops to his knees beside Gale.
“Oh no no no, you are not dying on me now.”
Gale attempts to express something, but it comes out as a gurgle of bloody bubbles. The world swings to the side, black and spinning.
“I swear, if it turns out I did just watch you spend the last of your magic sending your cat back to safety instead of saving your own damn skin-”
The threat remains unfinished. A healing potion trickles between Gale’s lips.
“Tressym,” Gale says, when he can finally trust his voice.
Astarion is still crouched over him, cheeks flushed, sweat running down his brow and someone else’s blood smeared across his cheek. Gale has the sudden urge to kiss him.
“What?”
“She’s a tressym. Not a cat.”
Astarion makes a noise of such furious, pained exasperation that Gale half expects the dagger to end up in his neck next.Series
