Hannibal had wound her up without bothering to watch her go. Miriam had been conditioned to pull a trigger, and beyond that, Hannibal held no curiosity whatsoever.
Two cages. One with grimy walls, a hard bed, and the oppressive, ever-present awareness of his own transformation. One with comfort, fragrant flowers, soothing music, and the sweet lull of oblivion. And that voice – Hannibal’s voice - winding through both cages, at turns haunting and irresistible.

Blackmailed into allowing him to stay, Hannibal's shock at having a twin is eclipsed by how much of an inconvenience he presents in regards to his manipulation of Will Graham.
Still nursing a broken heart and a bullet wound while dealing with his pompous, serial killer brother, Nigel finds respite in the alluring fascination of empath Will Graham, a profiler for the FBI. Hannibal has already laid claim, but Nigel knows better than anyone that the heart wants what it wants.

Summary
Will Graham is a producer on a Bachelor knock off reality TV show. Against his protests and better judgement, Dr. Hannibal Lecter is cast as the primary love interest on the show. Despite his many initial misgivings, Hannibal is a hit, and Will finds himself as drawn into the story Hannibal is creating as everyone watching at home. Everything is going well until Will becomes suspicious that he is the real object of Hannibal's affections, and all of a sudden contestants start to turn up murdered.
"Vena Amoris" is the (Mythical!) vein that runs from the ring finger to the heart; supposedly that is why we wear wedding rings on that finger.

“Hannibal, look.” Frustrated, Will collapses into a chair. “I’m not trying to be cruel, I promise you. The… idea, that you are suffering while I could… lessen it. It’s unbearable.” Hannibal is opening his mouth, but Will raises a hand to ask him to wait. “And before you bring up my ‘dangerously altruistic streak,’ as you’ve dubbed it, I do mean you.”
Will cannot look at Hannibal, because it’s only part of the truth. He can’t stop thinking about that day, when the perfectly poised doctor had come so unhinged that he broke through a solid wooden door with nothing but his own brutal strength. Sometimes, some sweaty, frantic nights, he has dreams about what would have happened had Jack not gotten there in time.
The fact that he does not know is becoming unbearable.
