Punishment thundered from the heavens as it ought to, burning the old world another final time. The ashy dragon—an innocent child—may have fallen, but remnants of its abyssal poison stubbornly clung to his essence. Enough had been cleansed that one desperate prayer managed to break him from absolute stasis, even if he couldn’t yet maintain this level of awareness for too long.

“What should we do with him?” Mydei speaks quietly, with great caution. It's not his regular voice, but Phainon is sleeping on his lap, and he's a child. It's madness.

Mydei is thoroughly unimpressed. He leans forward, matching Phainon’s volume. Sue him, maybe he’s a bit dramatic too, and says, “And? You aren’t either.”
“What!” Phainon rears back, comically shocked. The audacity of this boy. Did he think Mydei wouldn’t notice? As if Phainon could hide a secret from him in his life. “I thought I was being subtle.”
The idea is so ridiculous that Mydei is tempted to leave the library just so he can laugh forever.

Fate was unchangeable.
Fate, or rather, the program, had already predetermined the ending. Phainon tried to change it endlessly, throwing himself into the flames for the slightest chance. He fought against it, but now he can no longer continue.
Stelle understands she is no match for him. That she is not God, Aeon, or anything that might be able to break these chains of repeating cycles. Yet she refused to give up. Phainon deserves to see a new dawn, too.
Rules are made to be broken, right?
(Even if he doesn't want to be saved. They'll get there.)
