Of all the reactions she expected, Maomao never imagined the fall of Jinshi’s beautiful face, and the disappointment her husband now leveled her with. “Why not? That’s precisely what I aimed to do once, to have you.”
Maomao’s stomach twists. Once upon a time, her husband had been desperate for another life, one far away from his imperial responsibilities.
