“Shhh,” Jason curled a lock of hair around his finger as Tim slowly stilled, eyes blearily staring in the near vicinity of Jason. “Hey Timbo, Timmy— Calm down, baby bird. You’re safe, you’re safe. I promise.”
Slowly, so very slowly, Tim stopped screaming.
The young boy, practically skeletal from the torture and food-deprivation, blinked up at the figure sitting beside his hospital bed, “Jay?”
Jason hummed softly, rearranging the blankets around Tim’s chest. “Yeah, I’m here, baby. I’m here.”
“I’m scared.” Tim slurred his words, barely lucid as the next round of antibiotics kicked in to fight his countless infected wounds. He twitched violently.
(And Damian shows up eventually, wanting to be Robin as is his destiny. Jason has something to say about that.)

Jason Todd just wanted a normal day. A good day where he fought a few bad guys, killed a few scumbags and maybe visited the bookstore a few streets down from his Swedish safe house to get a new book that was hopefully in English.
Instead, he got thrown into an alternate universe where his younger self still hadn't been captured in Ethiopia, who hadn't had to survive unspeakable atrocities and who's only issues was being disliked for not being Dick Grayson.

“Get the hell up,” Slade ground out, slapping his employer’s face, being mindful of the vomit smeared on half of it, dripping from his chin. The motion revealed the heat radiating off the boy. The Arkham Knight remained motionless from where he was lying in a pool of his own piss and vomit. Dead to the world. His slow pulse indicated he was sick and wouldn’t be cognizant for an indeterminate amount of time. Slade followed the breathing exercises drilled into his head from his military days, trying to quell the anger. He had dealt with worse than parasuicidal contractors.
