Christmas at the Anderson’s was never a family affair. More like a Jeff affair. Todd loved his brother, but watching him unwrap countless boxes every year was never fun. Especially as he only ever recieved one or two meagre presents from his parents. His mother, every year, would talk about how christmas is about ‘celebrating one’s worth’. And every year, Todd was worth the same miserable amount. But this year, he clearly wasn’t worth anything at all.
Todd doesn't get anything for christmas from his parents. again. but, Neil gets him something.

Christopher rolls his eyes. Eddie still can’t get used to that, and has absolutely no idea where he gets that from, no matter what his family says. “You’re not allowed to do any of it. Buck’s going to help.”

Buck lets out a choked breath, “I'm, what, how?”
“I obviously don't know the show as well as you do, so correct me if I'm wrong,” Eddie thoughtfully says. “I think them dating other people at first? It is what they needed. It was good for them. They both needed to know - find what was good for them. They were trying to look for what they really wanted in life,” he drops his head against the back of the couch. “Turns out, it wasn't only each other, but it was in front of them the whole time, too. I think they both weren't ready yet.”
“They are now, though.”

Summary
Buck isn’t sure what prompts him to do it. They are carpooling together after a grueling shift, both going to Eddie’s place since by the time they wake up from their sleep it will be their Friday movie night with Chris.
Buck sees Eddie’s hand resting on the gear shift, his wrist soft, and fingers relaxed as they grip it loosely. He’s never really noticed it before, the way his hand moves to a different gear purely on muscle memory. Buck is so entranced with the shape that Eddie’s fingers make as they rest against the stem of the gear shift, that he doesn’t notice his hand move instinctively towards Eddie’s, at least not until he rests his own hand on top.

Eddie took himself out of his head once more, looking down to his son and following the boy’s line of sight. He was looking at Buck’s jeep, Eddie letting out a weighted sigh for it.
All of his coworkers had been welcoming, accepting Eddie right into their little family. Well, all of them except one that was. Buck had made it clear from day one that he didn’t want anything to do with Eddie, for whatever reason. It was fine with Eddie, really. Evan Buckley had no lasting effects on him.
“What ducks are you talking about bud?”
Chris looked up to him, all but rolling his eyes.
“Dad, every jeep has ducks.” He might has well have added a ‘duh’ at the end, Eddie holding his hands up in mock defense for not knowing such things. Why the fuck would jeeps have ducks?
Chris, with all the exasperation a seven-year-old could muster, looked up to him once more. “Look it up dad. It’s a thing.”
While Eddie wasn’t convinced, he assured Chris he would.

Buck doesn’t have any ducks for his jeep. Eddie decides to fix that. AKA 5 times Eddie secretly leaves ducks for Buck, and the one time he hands one right to him.
