Welcome readers! For those that enjoyed my first story, Echoes in the Greenwood, thank you for returning for more! I have been taking some classes in writing, so if the style and/or structure seems a little different (hopefully better), that is why! I plan for this story to be a decent length, as in much longer than my first story. That being said, I really enjoy writing about Middle-earth so I will be making sure that there is attention to detail and updates will be every week.

Kim Mayfield has a problem. A very specific one in the form of messy dark hair, warm hazel eyes and a corny sailor uniform. She was used to Steve Harrington, well, used to staring at him from afar and fantasizing about him. Sometimes she’d write about him in her diary; and if she sent him the occasional anonymous love letter, then that was between her and no one else. It was just a little crush, something that she could handle as long as she kept her distance from him.
So she thought.
Her new position at the ice cream parlor just makes everything more difficult, her crush more intense, and her inability to speak even harder. Not only that, but she’s fairly certain that Steve can’t stand her. Even if it’s just by association, something that she had no part of.
But the summer days are long, and what begins as a slow friendship leaves her hopeful that it will grow into something more. Only for it to be something that she wasn’t planning on for quite some time. Now they both have to deal with the repercussions.

With the Black Lordship had come the Potter Lordship and with the Potter Lordship had come the contract. A most terrible, binding contract, its parameters at last fulfilled by the unwilling duo standing now over the altar, hands joined and eyes unerringly locked. So, it can be said that this is all Sirius' fault, really, but Harry isn't in the habit of blaming the dead.

He watches her visibly gulp, looking away from him. Watches the way she grits her teeth, steeling herself. Then, with a concerted effort, she scoffs, though the sound doesn’t quite reach her face. “Don’t be ridiculous, Potter. I’m doing exactly what I told you I would.”
Slowly, gingerly, asking permission with her eyes and the barest brush of the tips of her fingers, she reaches for his hand. He can’t really help the way his whole body stiffens in response, just a little, just for a moment. But, jaw tight, he nods, and she slips her fingers into his palm and holds his hand, squeezing lightly.
“I’m protecting what’s mine.”
