Either the ghoul doesn't understand or doesn't care. He lets out an inhuman growl while his hand flinches on the gun, as if anticipating the recoil, but no sound echoes from the small chamber. No bullet lodges itself in Lucy's forehead.
Confused, they both lean in to determine the cause of the malfunction.
The man is missing his trigger finger.
Or, Lucy accidentally resurrects her new boyfriend, and the Ghoul accidentally binds his soul to the most ridiculous girl in the wasteland.

Summary
AU near the end of S2. Hank manages to get the mind control device on Lucy, but the results aren't what he or anyone else expected. Lucy is transformed into the perfect little wife, only she thinks she's the Ghoul's wife. When it turns out she has information he needs to find his once again missing family, Cooper is forced to find somewhere to take her while hopefully finding a way to "fix" her. Lucy abruptly finds herself in a world she doesn't know and with only one person she for sure trusts. Just ... why does everyone who says they know her seem mad about it?

And she definitely didn't picture that there would be something about the band's lead singer, known only as the Ghoul to the public, that would take her life down an unexpected path.

The sink has hot water. That's a marvel unto itself. The Ghoul lets it run over his hand.
"The shower works, too," Lucy says. "I haven't checked, but if the sink works, the shower will. Vault water chips are an all or nothing situation."
"Huh."
"It's funny, seeing you standing there." Lucy sits on the bed they're supposed to share. "This is exactly like the apartment my husband and I were going to share in Vault 33." When the Ghoul looks at her, she stops cold. "Not that you're my husband. Obviously. Or that this is anything like that. Or that either of us chose to be here. Actually, you know what? I think I'm just going to test out that shower anyway."
The Ghoul chuckles.
A radstorm chases the Ghoul and Lucy MacLean into a seemingly abandoned vault, but. Well. It's Vault-Tec, after all.

You need to read the other fics in 'A Kiss to Build a Dream On' for this to make sense - at least, I'd say, Flash, Bam, Alakazam, but I'd recommend reading the others too.
A slowly defrosting Norm in hand, Lucy and Cooper end up having to take refuge in a settlement; one he'd done his best to avoid in the before-times, and isn't particularly happy about being in, now.
They just need a few nights, though - the chance to rest, check in with a medic, maybe send a message ahead to the farm.
Simple... right?
For Cooper and his Goose, though, is anything ever simple?

Summary
