Summary
She hadn't understood what uniting the Hallows would truly mean when she'd read her grandfather's private journal from of the Second Blood War. She'd only done it because she seemed to be sharing a similar Fate to him. She'd wanted to understand, wanted any advantage to be had. Of course, she didn't realize that by uniting them she would be the cause of his death, after a fashion.
She really hadn't expected to be snatched from her world, instead of coming back from death in her own as her grandfather had done.
She certainly hadn't expected to essentially be remade as some sort of angelic spirit-being, made kin to those who had Sung this new world into existence.
She resented the Lord of Death, called Námo, for quite a lot. There was darkness in this new world that was both like and unalike to her homeworld.
But at least he'd had the decency to teach her what she needed to know since he'd claimed her.
Still, she didn't think she would go around telling anyone she was actually Death's Herald. It sounded terrible, really, even if it truly wasn't. A small part of her understood the Vala's desire to have a Herald of his own, like his brother Vala did.

The golden lettering on her skin was unreadable to her, at least until she died and found herself in a strange new world with a set of weirdly pointy ears to go along with it.
Fate has a strange way of helping soulmates to meet. Sakura somehow doubts dying and being reincarnated is one of those approved methods. It would’ve been far less painful to have just been born there in the first place.

Being reborn as a rampaging dragon from the first age did some funny things to Sakura’s mind, having used her Byakugo no Jutsu the moment a deadly lance stabbed her heart was not such a bright idea in retrospection: it turned her new body into stone. It’s a nightmare to be condemned to such a fate, unable to sleep or eat anything for millennia has irreparably damaged the former shinobi. So when a golden haired elf frees her with the excuse of them being soulmates it occurs to her that this hallucination is one of the most bizarre yet, but also the most interesting so why not go with the flow? It’s not like a living stone dragon has anything better to do anyway.

A second chance at life should be a blessing, but trouble somehow always finds Team Seven, whether it comes in the form of strange beasts called orcs or nosy golden-haired elves who think they’ve returned from the Halls of Mandos too, though perhaps this time they might get a few thousand years of peace before the action begins.

Summary

But family relationships are tricky, and Sakura finds herself stumped by the task set before her, because her father believes her and her mother dead.
It’s one thing to introduce herself to her estranged father, but another thing entirely for her to shatter the world he’s built in the wake of the assumed loss of his family.

Bella Baggins knows better than to think Thorin actually just initiated an ancient hobbit courting ritual. He has no possible way to know what he's just done, and the middle of an important quest is not the time for her to be silly about it.
Thorin knows better than to think Bella actually meant to initiate a dwarven courting ritual. She's a hobbit, not a dwarf, and it would be dishonorable to act as though things were otherwise. Especially when she'd so recently turned him down.
(Bella and Thorin are both quite aware that the other has different customs, and they do their best to respect them while recognizing that their own peoples courting rituals are unknown to the other. This causes exactly as many problems as you might think.)

Despite his age, his head is half-shaved and covered with tattoos. More than a few rebellious teens in the area idolize him for ignoring trends and being wholly unfazed by what people think of his eccentricities.
There are a surprising number of things he keeps under wraps though. Things that his family aren't willing to just let him brush under the rug once they notice them.
Because, if the Pines family would be known for one thing, it was their insatiable curiosity. (Or, possibly, their inability to mind their own business.)

Summary
The thing was, even after Crowley Fell, Heaven forgot to delete his login to their system.
The only half interesting thing he had ever found in Heaven’s archives was their newspaper, even though it was a dreadfully dull rag. But even then, Crowley was never inspired to truly interfere with the Celestial Observer’s contents until the late 1600s, when advice columns were invented on Earth.
As always, brilliant inspiration struck him like… like whatever inspiration strikes like. So Crowley resolved to meddle, just as a side project. Maybe if he got enough angels heated at each other, he could report it as a victory to Hell. Anyway, Dagon had always liked gossip, and the Celestial Observer’s new advice column was a ready source of that.
It was pure genius.

To move on from a heartbreaking loss, Marinette Dupain-Cheng takes a side job: a Michelin Guide inspector, one of the anonymous food critics whose reports guide the assignment -- or revoking -- of those coveted Michelin Stars. She has plenty of culinary experience, after all.
That the whole requirement for Michelin inspectors to keep their identities as secret and closely guarded as a CIA agent appeals to the dissatisfied adrenaline junkie portion in her is just a bonus.
Jason Todd can't believe that somehow he's ended up working with Interpol. But given that Talia al Ghul is in pursuit of something fantastically dangerous which cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of the League of Assassins, he's begrudgingly become a temporary secret agent.
What he didn't expect was a tiny French firecracker who seems to be keeping too many secrets about why exactly she keeps showing up at all the same places as Jason, and who has downright alarmingly unconventional and unorthodox fighting skills. It's obvious to him that she's an agent on behalf of some third player on this game-board, but Jason isn't certain who.
All he knows for sure is that somehow, this little pixie is going to be the death of him.
