The night stretches outside, and Lestat starts tracing lines against Louis’ thigh. It’s tender at first, only a faint touch. He watches— eyes intent on Louis’ face, looking for his reaction. Then he cups him on top of his pants.
Louis stops him with a gentle hand on his wrist.
“Not tonight,” he breathes. “Soon. But not tonight.”
Lestat eyes him with confusion. “Why?”
Louis answers with a knowing look and a sweet kiss. Their lips meet so softly, so gently, it almost makes Louis cry.
“Because you don’t need to please me to be loved,” he finally says against Lestat’s mouth, heart on his throat. Lestat freezes. “Let me hold you.”

It was difficult to explain how good it was, to be consumed in such a way. How thrilling to feel the life you drank out of someone being drunk out of you. He felt his heart thrumming in his chest and he knew Nicki could feel it too, his own heartbeat starting to mimic it as they became one, in blood and in spirit. The unholiest communion that could ever be.
Lestat turned Nicki and abandoned him. Armand feels the need to go check on the fledgling. Upon finding him half-starved and sad, he takes the matter on his own hands.
