Doctor McCoy sure as hell doesn’t compromise care, confidentiality, or his goddamn conscience for anyone. He has no problem with extracting a mind-controlling slug from Uhura's sinuses, performing a blood transfusion between a human and a sentient puddle, or administering therapy to a crew-wide hallucination of a god.
But catching feelings for Spock?
Now that’s just irresponsible.

I read this back on ff dot net years ago and WOW. CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. 'World's Apart' was the first time I understood honor and an honor-based society. So Far Down had me sobbing. So much richness and depth involved in these stories and tying it around with everything that happened (and is to happen) in the 03 show- Turtles Forever, Fastforward. Bookmarking now so that I can reread this, so excited to find it on AO3! (And author if you are reading this, THANK YOU for sharing! These are INCREDIBLE stories!)

Summary
Considering the recent alien invasion and all the other shit that happened, Donnie should have been used to it. It was such a normal occurrence; it was practically the new normal.
Noise was normal. It had surrounded him and the world for as long as the space-time continuum had existed. He had been surrounded by it his whole life. Never, can he remember a moment of silence when it came to his past memories, his entire lifetime.
If he had been surrounded by noises and sounds his whole life, then why did he suddenly feel like curling up and crying whenever someone closed a door, yelled in retaliation to another’s comment or just simply turned up the volume on their TV to hear better?
It was just noise, just stupid sounds!
Why did it bother him so much?
Basically, in addition to the heightened sensory issues, Donnie develops the fear of loud noises and doesn’t know how to deal with it.
This is set after the Krang invasion, when they are somewhat healing but still have a long way to go.

Donnie would never say out loud his scientific morals were a bit questionable, but deep down he knew he was a mad scientist at heart, at least where his unavailable bad-boy image was concerned.
But when a yokai scientist captures the turtle and forces him to help bring the yokai’s inventions to fruition, Donnie gets a glimpse into just how mad a scientist can go.
As his family races against the clock to get him back, it’s up to Donnie to stop a potentially world-ending plan, battling his captor, his insecurities, and even his own mind.

“We don't know,” Raph said. It was the simplest and most truthful answer he could give.OR
Remember in the season 1 finale when Draxum threatened to torture the turtles for the Dark Armor? Yeah...

AMAZING 10/10 gripping suspense. Dark, angsty (yet still has trademark humor from our guys) supersoldier-heavy trauma-focused twisty story! Leo-gets-overdedicated-to-protecting-his-family trope flipped on its head and Donnie-kraangification also flipped on its head. Kidnapping fic. Amazing characters, fascinating worldbuilding, and the guys' abilities are used to their FULLEST (and I mean FULLEST) extent. Must reread.

“That isn’t how this works!” Donnie took a step toward them. He could feel his muscles tensing, like he was bracing for impact. “You can’t just throw me out with a vote.”
“Well then, how about this,” Raph said, and Donnie shrank back as he stepped up.
In all his life, Raph had never made him feel so small.
“You’re out, Donnie. Leader’s orders.”
His brothers think they don't need him anymore? Well, fine. He doesn't need them either.
The old Donatello is gone. He'll build a new one. One that will make them regret they ever threw him aside.
Building things is what he's good at, after all.

During the first go-around with the Krang Invasion, Donatello rises to the occasion and takes his helm as leader of the Resistance. The Earth may be a burning ship, but he will do all he can to protect his brothers and the humans that come to rely on them.
