Xie Lian's cultivation suppressed the presentation of his secondary gender.
He never really had any hints growing up. Or, well, he did, but they were conflicting. He had a strong frame, but was known for being a pretty boy. He's been working under the assumption that he's a beta for eight-hundred years now.
After meeting and marrying Hua Cheng, he started looking into alternate cultivation methods, since he's kinda decided sex is nice, actually. Very nice. It seems to be going well, he's still just as strong as he was before.
His life is uneventful in the best, most peaceful way.

Alastor froze, leaving him looking very much like a deer in headlights. Lucifer recovered first, letting his power explode out from his back, lifting them both off the ground. It coalesced into golden tentacles, much like the ones Alastor had sported earlier that day.
He wrapped them around the Sinner’s arms, wrenching them behind his back. Alastor stumbled, but didn’t fall. Lucifer kept him upright, lifting his arms up and over his head. He lifted him until only the tips of his hooves were in contact with the floor and Alastor was forced to awkwardly balance on them to take some of the weight off of his arms and shoulders.

Immediately after his visit to Charlie's new hotel, Lucifer decides he needs to do something about her sketchy as fuck bellhop. He travels back into Alastor's past to put the fear of the Devil in him and to maybe strike a deal to protect his baby girl.

By now the hotel was aware of Alastor’s penchant for pushing others' buttons, so to speak. But this was a far departure from Alastor’s usual taunting.
‘Um…. Alastor, I understand that the attitudes back in your day were very different, but…’ Charlie stammered awkwardly.
‘But this shits messed up, even for you!’ Angel Dust exclaimed, his arachnid, freckle-like eyes shuttering on and off like the lens of a Polaroid camera. Vaggie nodded in agreement, crossing her arms and glaring at Alastor even more than she usually does.
Or,
Alastor holds some old fashioned beliefs, and finds an acquaintance in an unlikely place. Elsewhere, Vox is still pissed at Alastor's polite and reasonable rejection and Valentino is as unproblematic and cool headed as he always is. Velvette goes from third wheeling to fourth wheeling to a hidden fifth thing.
Also, Alastor gets his own cult, fails at running said cult, but atleast he doesn't get electrocuted by a television. Nifty is involved. Be scared.
