„Valentino?“, he croaks out.
More silence before the other man ultimately speaks, the thick Italian accent underlining his hesitation.
„I shouldn't have called you. This was a mistake.“„What, did you finally decided to answer me, just because you wanted to congratulate me?“, Marc pushes out with a quiet giggle behind, a joke only he can- forcefully- laugh about.
Yet as Valentino doesn't hit back, the noise stops in his throat, blocking it.
„Oh.“
/ Marc didn't know what he should feel after he won his ninth title. Didn't know how to react to Valentino calling him.
But maybe it's better this way.
Maybe he can finally find peace after this. -

Summary
“I won’t give you what you wish for, you asshole!”, a very familiar voice snarls behind Marc’s back. “Allora, you can return as often as you want, my answer stays the same. Fuck. Off.”
Marc whirls around and his heartbeat doubles. He lets out an admittedly loud breath as his eyes fall onto Vale, sunken against the cave’s wall. A bit dirty and battered, but alive and looking relatively well, considering the situation. And most importantly, the same charismatic and cocky smile everyone loves him for on his face.
For the moment, it doesn’t matter that he is chained to a wall; the small, crusted wound on his forehead doesn’t matter either. All Marc cares about is that he kept his will to fight. Because as long as Vale bites back, he will be all right and everything will turn out fine.
For a fraction of a second, Vale’s glare falls onto him, it doesn't slide over him, like it should, but he looks directly into his eyes. A short flash of surprise glides over his face, the crease on his forehead disappears.
Then the sparkle turns into disgust.//Eventually, Marc can locate Vale with the help of the spell. But was the cost worth the effort? And what - or rather who - is behind Valentino's disappearance?
