He’d only known the other boy for six months, but every time one of their teachers assigned them some sort of reading assignment, without fail, Guan would ask him to explain whatever it was. He didn’t mind at first, it wasn’t like he had much else to do and Guan was his friend, besides, it wasn’t like he’d gotten the same level of education he’d been fortunate enough to have.

Leo blinks, and the wetness in his eyes spills out, and Raph just wants to pick him up. Carry him somewhere safe. Leo has always been larger than life, but right now he looks impossibly small.
“Hey, hey,” Raphael soothes, the same way he has a thousand times before, after bad dreams and skinned knees, “you’re okay. Raph’s here, you’re okay.”
Those gold eyes slide to the side, looking at a point behind Raph. Leo’s arm moves, and something cold and solid presses against Raph’s chest. It’s the key, and Leo’s hand is trembling so hard that Raph’s closes around it instinctively, taking the weight of it from him.
Because he’s Leo, the corners of his mouth quirk into a smile.
“I told you,” he says hoarsely. It somehow manages to sound wry, like they’re in on a joke together. “I got it.”
Raph is seconds too late getting to Leo in the warehouse, and Leo is taken by the Krang instead.

These turtles are different; flat and angular in a way that hurts the eyes, but Leo sees pieces of his brothers in these opposites. And then there’s Leonardo. This cool, magical, confident version of himself, that doesn’t resemble him in the slightest. Leonardo’s like the kids that stalk the hallways. Untouchable, but with a grin and wit that pulls everyone in. Leo’s the complete opposite; perpetually awkward in the halls and in his leadership. Even now the older turtle flips with an ease he can’t hope to obtain.

Summary
There’s a sudden interruption of light. It’s like a tiny, localized dawn in this corner of Brooklyn alone. A glowing circle hangs over the pier, spilling warm yellow across the water and the boardwalk.
Mikey’s senses go to war with themselves. Obviously, historically, random portals are no good. His head knows that. But his heart is soothed by it, the way he feels when Raph is late coming home from patrol and he finally walks through the door.
It’s golden and gentle and it feels like family.
His brothers are tense, but they haven’t sprung into action yet. No one’s speaking. They must feel it, too.
Rise!Mikey’s portal in the prison dimension takes Leo a little bit farther than he meant for it to. 12!Mikey finds a familiar-looking stranger.

Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.
