Summary
“What are you doing here?” he asked, his heart kick-starting back to life and thrumming in his chest.
“I live here, cowboy – or should I say, Edmundo,” the bartender, his roommate, answered.
This couldn’t be happening. The man he had been unwillingly thinking about for the past week, was his roommate. Evan, whose frosted tips had faded, but whose eyes were just as hauntingly blue as they were in the light of the club. The same man he made eye contact with as he accidentally came in his pants was… his roommate.

Summary
“Pull over.”
Eddie doesn't mean to say it so loudly, but it startles Buck anyway.
“W–what?” Buck asks, glancing over at him with wide eyes.
“Pull over, Buck,” Eddie repeats, taking care to say it more gently this time.
Buck shakes his head a few too many times, eyes returning to being glued on the road, and hands keeping their death grip on the steering wheel.
“N–no, I’m f–fine,” he stutters out with a tight smile that looks more like a grimace.
“No, you’re not fine,” Eddie pushes back, “and that’s okay. Just pull over for a bit.”
or; Buck and Eddie get stuck in a storm on their drive home, and a downed tree forces them to spend a night at a tiny inn.

Summary
Buck's phone rests in his back pocket. It would be so easy to call Eddie, or even Maddie, for help. He hates that he’s considering it, hates that he can’t handle one tantrum on his own.
Buck wipes the tears from Isabel's cheek, but two more come down in their place.
“I’m here. You’re okay, baby,” he continues.
Eddie’s been gone for what? An hour?
"Come home. I’m not ready for this. I need you by my side," he wants to text.
It’s not a fair request, so Buck doesn’t make it.

Summary
Eddie thinks he’ll really like that. It’ll feel good, to lean back in the seat and feel the sun on his face unshielded by the headrests blocking the view in front of him. It’ll just be him, and the road, and—
And there will be someone with him. He’s sure that there will be someone right there next to him. Someone who doesn’t fuss. Someone who isn’t worried. Someone who likes the same music as he does and doesn’t care where the car goes at all. Eddie doesn’t know who it will be yet, because he’s still little. But it’ll be someone who likes him a lot.eight-year-old eddie diaz fantasizes about the freedom of the open road; the fantasy follows him all the way to 2025. or: an eddie character study

Summary
A pair of novelty handcuffs malfunction on a call, leaving Buck and Eddie attached at the wrist with no key and no bolt cutters available.
What follows is an entire shift of shared seats, awkward bathroom logistics, increasingly coordinated rescues, merciless teasing from the 118, and far more forced proximity than either of them is emotionally prepared to handle.
The cuffs might be fake.
Unfortunately, the feelings are not.

He’s never been the little spoon.
Ever.

Everyone thinks it’s about cuddling.
Only Eddie realizes it’s not.
Buck just wants to know what it feels like to be the one someone reaches for first.

Summary
There's a billboard. That's in itself is pretty normal, billboards are a normal part of LA; advertisers like having somewhere big and visible, and what better place than a billboard? It should be fine. This billboard should not be bothering Eddie at all, except—
Except. There's a giant fucking rainbow.
It's like—and Eddie isn't even exaggerating here—the whole billboard is essentially taken up by a massive, striped rainbow. Each brightly colored strip must be at least two feet high and seven wide, if not bigger. It's—it's obscene, quite frankly. Unnecessary. Also incredibly hard to miss, Eddie can't believe he didn't notice it before.
Boy, is he noticing it now. Fuck. He's—he's doing the thing again. The thing where his face flushes and his palms sweat and his heart beats entirely too fast to the point that he feels on the verge of a panic attack, and there's nothing to even be afraid of.
Just a big, stupid fucking rainbow.
Or,
Eddie is haunted by the rainbow.Bookmarked by Dumbasser

“Why’re you quoting Little Women at me right now?” Eddie interrupts.
Buck huffs. He didn’t exactly plan out what he was going to say, but he had a loose idea, and it certainly wasn’t Little Women. “I— I’m not quoting Little Women.”
“Yes, you are,” Eddie insists.
“No, I’m not! I’m telling you I’m in love with you!”

"We can both go," Buck offers quickly, the words coming out of his mouth barely after Eddie's finished speaking. For a second, he worries it'll be enough to make Eddie shut off again, but he catches the barest flicker of a smile and a knot of anxiety releases from his chest. "I can make us lunch after?"
"You sound like my Abuela," Eddie jokes. "Trying to heal me with food?"
"Hey, I know what your appetite is like. I know you too well."

Summary
Bobby opens the door and his jaw hits the floor as he comes face to face with Evan. Evan, his son, who was supposed to be safely tucked away in Hershey with his lovely sister and parents, the Buckleys. Evan, who looks like he hasn’t slept in days and is bearing the weight of the world on his small shoulders.
“So you know who I am,” the kid starts, his words drenched in bitterness. It breaks Bobby’s heart. This is his son. His son, who is glaring at him like he is the scum of the earth.
“Evan –” he starts, but the kid cuts him off.
“Look, I know you gave me up and didn’t want me, but you are my father. I hope you are not too much of an asshole to turn me away now. Please, may I come in? I will be out of your hair soon, I promise.”
Something in Bobby breaks at those words.

Summary
“You know, I think it’s sweet that flamingos alloparent.” Buck’s voice breaks Eddie out of his spiral and he jolts for a moment before turning his head towards the other man.
“Allowhat?” He asks, because even an anxious Eddie Diaz still wants to hear anything Buck has to say.
Buck’s whole face lights up as he lifts a leg to tuck under him while he turns his whole body to face Eddie. “Alloparent! It’s a thing where certain species of animals will parent young that aren't theirs. Usually it’s because they are social groups who are very close and share parenting responsibilities with each other. But research shows that flamingos specifically will adopt abandoned eggs or chicks in same sex pairs just the two of them, building their own little family. Isn't that sweet?”
Eddie nods before thinking, caught up in the light dusting of blush across Buck’s cheeks and nose in his excitement and joy to learn and share. But when he thinks about it, it is sweet, so he says so.
“Yeah Buck, that’s real sweet."

“I am taking it easy,” Buck argues, unimpressed. “I’m literally in bed.”
“And I’m expecting you to stay there,” Eddie warns, pointing a cautionary finger.
“Only if you're joining me,” Buck bargains, impatiently patting the mattress next to him.
“I've heard that skin-to-skin contact is really good for the brain, makes it release all the feel good chemicals and regulates stress and stuff.”Eddie narrows his eyes, considering. “Sounds like an excuse to get me shirtless.”

“Buck, I didn’t ask you to be a groomsman at my wedding because I was kind of hoping you’d be the groom. I want you to be the one standing with me at the altar.”
Shaking his head, Buck pushed himself out of his chair. “Hold on. What?”
Eddie smiled, a soft little grin that made Buck’s knees feel weak.
“I guess you get a two-for-one special today, Buckley,” Eddie murmured. “I’m gay and so in love with you that it, quite frankly, makes me feel crazy.”
Buck froze. He’s not sure there was anything else he could’ve done at that moment. What the hell was happening right now?
“I’m sorry,” Buck muttered, holding a hand up between them. He screwed his eyes shut. “Can you repeat that?”
