Shane ignored Rozanov and continued, “If you insist on not telling anyone, and I’m the only person that knows, then you need to let me take care of you.” Shane readied himself for the rejection.
Rozanov looked perplexed. “You do not know me. Why are you acting like you care about me, Hollander?”
Well, Shane hadn’t expected that response. “It’s not- I’m not saying I- I just want to win fair and square, Rozanov. It’s nothing more than that. I can’t have you collapsing during the game.” There. Totally convincing reason. Shane almost believed it himself.

“Inspector Hollander,” Rozanov said, accent thick and controlled, the syllables carrying through the dining room. “I was told about you. This is.. surprise.”
Shane sat posture-perfect in his chair, crossing one ankle over his knee. He lifted his water glass, unfazed. “Health Department inspections are usually unannounced.”
“Yes,” Rozanov agreed, eyes tracking him closely. “But Friday is.. busy day. And you come when you are not scheduled.”
That caught Shane’s attention. High-end kitchens such as these track inspectors obsessively. Someone in management definitely knows Shane's usual schedule. By now, the whole brigade de cuisine probably knows. “Word travels fast.” Shane said, eyes finally clicking with Rozanovs.
“In good kitchen, everything moves fast.”

Ilya wakes up confused. He’s pretty sure he fell asleep at home, in bed, with Shane fast asleep in his arms, but he wakes up on a flat surface with a pinch in his lower back. Had he fallen off the bed in the middle of the night? Neither he nor Shane move much in their sleep, but he supposes it isn’t impossible.
He levers himself up on one hand, stretching out his back slightly as he sits up. He’s definitely not in his bedroom anymore. The room he’s in is large and full of bulky hockey players spread out across the floor. Their soft groans and quiet questions begin to filter in his ears as they wake up as well. He sees some players he knows are on the Voyageurs, some of his own teammates, some coaching staff, and even some WAGs like Jackie Pike and Cassie Boodram. But the most important person in the room is laid out next to him, face slack and peaceful with sleep.
“Shane,” Ilya urges, shaking him. “Shane, wake up.”

What if after tuna melts, whispered names and the Rose of it all - in a post All Stars Game world - Shane thinks the world is finally starting to make sense again to him. Once the ground is firm under his feet - or so he thinks anyway - it's turns out to be less than stable? What if when Shane was getting his hook ups in Mexico and Hollywood - he wasn’t as unnoticed as he had originally thought?
When Montreal shows it’s true colors sooner, a No Trade Clause is waived and Boston gets an opportunity to build a dynasty that rivals the one of their largest rivals up North.
What if Shane and Ilya’s worlds are turned upside down and things with their over 8 year long situationship (now maybe relationship?) suddenly got more complicated and somehow simplified at the same time? Shane honestly thinks this is possibly the most ‘them’ resolution to a situation he has ever found. Ilya is just doing his best - he thinks. Maybe.
Also, the Power Play in Boston is about to be the thing of nightmares, if a certain Russian can stop blocking Shane's damn shot…

“Nice towel.” Shane took a brief look down for the first time in what seemed like forever, a rapid blush forming as he realized he was using the one J.J. got him as a gag gift last Christmas. The one that said ‘Hockey moms, we're not afraid to drop gloves’ in bold black lettering.
Shane wanted the ground to swallow him up.
“Uh,” Shane helpfully replied, his thoughts turning to mush that he so eloquently verbalized.
“See you around Hollander,” Marleau chuckled lightly, giving Rozanov a friendly slap to the back of his helmet as he made his way down the hall. Rozanov lingered, just a second longer, smirking as he turned to follow Marlow.
“Bye Shane Hollander.” the presumably-- no definitely-- Russian man responded, voice carrying down the hall.
“Bye.” Shane whispered, blinking rapidly as he watched the two figures retreat down the hall to the elevator.

“So,” she says, tilting her microphone just slightly, “can you explain why you were seen picking up Hayden Pike’s children the other day?”
There it is. Ilya blinks once, slow, thoughtful. Then he shrugs. “Can I explain?” he repeats. “Yes.”
She perks up.
“Will I?” he continues. “No.”Across the country, Hayden Pike is doing the exact same dance under a very different set of lights.
“Hayden,” a reporter says, “people are wondering why Ilya Rozanov was the one to pick up your kids.”
Hayden exhales slowly. “Well,” he says, dry as dust, “there wasn’t a single nanny available. Not one. City-wide shortage.”or, Shane and Ilya had to look after Hayden's kids and Ilya picks them up from school, the public reacts, everybody is confused.
