Donnie doesn’t believe in twin telepathy. He doesn’t believe they’re twins, either. But it feels like something is missing, when he no longer has someone so intrinsically linked to him. When someone who has always clung to him suddenly withdraws, pulling everything with him. It feels like holding water in his hands, seeping through every crack. And he cannot catch it, cannot stop holding his hands there even though he is losing all that is inside.“You don’t want to go in there.” Leo says quietly, hauntingly. His ninpo is pushed away, while the water continues to somehow drown itself.
For once, he wishes he could see what was going on inside Leo’s head. For once, the idea of telepathy doesn’t seem quite so bad.
OR:
Donnie does not believe in twin telepathy. Surely there is some other reason to explain all of this.

“It’s not difficult, it’s just wrong,” Raph growled. He couldn’t look at her. This was the thing. The thing that made everyone look at him with pity. Like he was defective or broken. Like he was some stupid idiot who couldn’t get with the program.
But it was everyone else who was wrong. Raph was the only one who was living in reality.
“Leo. Isn’t. Dead.”
_________________It's been two years since Leo's disappearance. The city has erected a monument in Bryant Park to honor and mourn New York's bravest young hero.
While Leo's statue sits in the park, Raph sits in therapy. Everyone believes Raph is too traumatized, too wounded to process the loss of his brother.
But there's something Raph can't explain, something only he can feel, something everybody wants him to ignore. It whispers softly somewhere in the deepest corners of his mind: he's still here.
Raph listens.

Summary
Donnie wasn’t one who handled gore and blood very well. Yes, he could manage enough for smaller injuries and had gained more resistance over the years, but it was not his strong suit. Blood made him nauseous. Blood made him lightheaded and scared.
So when he saw how mangled Leo’s arm was when he finally slid to his side, he felt his stomach turn and turn. He worried he’d throw up or pass out and be totally useless as his twin bled out beneath him. But, as his heart rate kicked up and his hands shook while reaching for Leo’s face, he felt something else rise above it.
Rage.

“Leo.” He says his name sharply like he’d done a million times before. “Leo, how hurt are you?”
There’s a very long, suspicious pause before his brother answers him.
“It’s nothing,” he says in a small voice, shrunken down by the weight of Raph’s incoming scolding. “I’m fine. I just… If I could just—”
“You ass,” Raph spits. Bleeding fingers curl around the jagged lip of the debris that pins him, the harsh edges cutting into his blistering skin. “Don’t move. What’ve you done?”
Another very long, worrying pause that causes Raph’s blood pressure to spike a touch.
“S’just this… pole,” he says, like it’s the most casual thing on earth. “Not where a pole should be, per say.”
But it isn’t casual, because about a hundred and one very horrifying images suddenly spring to mind of his brother, just an arms reach away, impaled in the most gruesome of ways where Raph can’t get to him, and suddenly the thought of having to wait for Mikey and Donnie doesn’t sound all too good for him.
