“We are the Heroes of tomorrow,” Izuku says, a smile curling his lips, a thrumming in his ears. The crowd has gone silent around him. It's almost eerie, the way the stadium itself seems to hold its breath.
“And we are going to change the world,” Izuku breathes the words, a certainty, a declaration, a promise. “So watch out," Izuku leans into the microphone. Leveling the camera with narrowed eyes, his smile nothing more than teeth. "Because here we come.”

Bruce’s eyes look sad. He closes them and takes a deep, steadying breath.
“Well, we’re here,” he says, with a certainty to his voice that’s so deep Tim swears he can feel it in his bones. “I’m here, and Alfred and Jason are right out there in the waiting room, and Dick’s already trying to get the afternoon off work so he can drive down and see you later. You can cry as much as you want, Tim—we’re not going anywhere. None of us.”

Hiccup laughs, for lack of anything better to do.
Then he realizes she’s serious.
Or: Instead of facing the Monstrous Nightmare in the Kill Ring, Hiccup packs up and leaves Berk on Toothless, defeating the Red Death on his own as he goes. Four years later, he turns his attention to dragonkind’s biggest threat: Drago Bludvist. In search of allies, information, or anything at all that could give them an upper hand against Drago, Hiccup and Toothless head north.
What they find instead is one Valka ex-Haddock.
Their reunion, it’s safe to say, doesn’t go quite as smoothly as it might have in a certain movie.

He takes a breath. Repeats– “Why didn’t you come back? To Berk,” he clarifies. “After Cloudjumper… well.”
“Oh,” Valka shrugs, and looks back down to the drawings in her hands. “I didn’t think there was anything for me to come back to,” she replies absently.
Hiccup blinks at her. Breathes in, breathes out. Blinks again. Nods, though she isn’t looking at him to see it.
He’s going to let it go, he decides. His chest is tight and resentful, and nothing good will come of this. He isn’t going to say anything. It’s fine.
“Him,” Toothless all but growls from behind, jerking his head towards Hiccup, suddenly looking very much awake. Hiccup had no idea he’d been listening. “There was him.”
