Summary
Just like the many amazing Slytherin Harry Potter fics, this is my take on what would happen if Harry Potter was just a little bit smarter, a little bit crueler, and acted a little bit more like the Slytherin we knew he could be.
Takes inspiration from too many stories to count, but includes tropes like Slytherin Harry, awesome goblins, Dumbledore bashing, and Harry destroying any machinations laid out for him simply by existing and giving things a second thought. He refuses to be anybody's puppet.
After Harry was introduced to the wizarding world, some red flags were raised and questions left unanswered, so he decided to ditch his babysitter and return to Diagon Alley unsupervised. Harry returned to the bank and found that Dumbledore had been manipulating everything from behind the scenes. Eager to leave the Dursleys behind, Hadrian - he learned his name was - will do whatever it takes to get out from under Dumbledore's thumb, even if it means walking a darker path than expected of the Wizarding world's Savior.

Summary
Harry Potter has always known he was different from the Dursleys, but when he meets Death at the age of nine, he learns of an entirely new world. A magical one. He knows to expect a letter from a magical school, and is happy to learn that when Professor McGonagall shows up to deliver it personally, she has no intentions of ever sending him back to the Dursley home and instead informs him of his birthright as an heir not only to the Potters but also to the Blacks. Now with a home of his own, although plagued with a yapping portrait and a scowling house-elf, Harry finally learns what it means to be free, and he begins his schooling. However, Harry quickly discovers the magic he uses is not like that of his schoolmates, but something else entirely, something old and forbid-den in Britain, and he has to hide away his true self to not rouse any suspicions.

Summary
Many things are different and many are the same as Harry begins his fifth year at Hogwarts.
Here, living with Dursleys that aren't just neglectful but outright abusive made Harry unable to withstand more than a few weeks of Trelawney's "predictions" back in his third year. Instead, he took Ancient Runes, and uncovered that he had a prodigious knack for runic magic, which opened the door to the darkest of rituals and the magic of mind and soul. A year later, Harry uncovered something horrible within himself - a parasite.
So, when Voldemort sends him dreams of corridors and doors, Harry sends him pieces of hell in return.

It is often said that one can die if they consume an apple seed, because the seed contains cyanide.
This is the truth in very few cases. However, two facts often overlooked are that the apple seeds need to be ground up, and that they contain very little cyanide (a single apple seed contains about 0.6mg of the poison). A lethal dosage of cyanide is 50mg, so an adult person, on average, would need to consume 200 crushed up apple seeds in one sitting.
But the most important fact of all is that nobody is eating that many crushed apple seeds. There are many more interesting ways to spend one's time, like listening to the radio or killing one's father.
I daresay it's more likely the Devil himself is real and communicated with a twelve years old through the radio to explain to him that he was going to Hell.

Alastor seemed to ponder it for a moment "I'd rather return the gift and simply go back to my old form." Sera scoffed "I'm sure you would, but that isn't one of your options. You will return to Hell yes, but as a Hellborn. Whether you want to admit it or not, you've become quite attached to that hotel group and I'm sure the princess would feel much better to have you back; So, you will be reborn into that Hazbin Hotel family of yours."
