Hanma took a long drag of his cigarette. His expression was sharp and cold. A hazy cloud of smoke lingered in the stagnant air. He tilted his head to the side, eyeing you, scrutinising you.It took everything in you to seem confident in front of this man.
He ran that golden, calculated gaze of his over your figure but for some reason it didn't make your skin crawl. It made your skin feel too tight and your insides too hot.
"Why are ya here tonight?" he asked.
You ground your jaw. "It's a Friday night. I came here to see the club." Which wasn't a lie necessarily.
"Hm," Hanma hummed, staring down at you. "With Matsuno Chifuyu?" There was disbelief and humour in his eyes.
"Nope," you said, popping the p. "Came here alone."
"Ah," he breathed. After a pause, he asked, "Do you know Matsuno Chifuyu?"
You sucked your teeth, getting tired of this questioning. "I've heard of him but didn't come here with him."
Hanma huffed a laugh-- a low dark sound from his chest.
You weren't fooling this man, you realised to your horror. What a stupid mistake it was to attempt to lie.

And revel he did, especially in those moments when Tony forgot he was there and his hands became a blur of motion as he manipulated diagrams and shot through calculations with a speed that surpassed even JARVIS’.
But watching him figure out that Steve was irretrievably in love with him? Not so much awe inspiring as it was completely terrifying. More so than anything else in his life.
And Steve had fought goddamn wars."

When Steve lashes out after a misunderstanding, Tony is the one left hurt. Now, a certain super soldier must find a way to apologize, make things right, and then possibly make an epic declaration of love because all this talk of Tony with other people just had to stop. Really.

Summary
A belated Halloween fluff fic (no horror, just dressing up).
The Avengers are (re)assembling, if for one evening only. There's nothing Tony wouldn't do for his little mentee Kamala Khan. This time Kamala is throwing a Halloween party and her greatest wish is for the Avengers to be there, all together and friends again. Well, Tony is no miracle worker, but he's managed to convince everyone to at least show up and to dress up in Hogwarts robes too, since it's a Harry Potter themed party (wait, maybe he is a miracle worker, after all).
It's the first time since the Civil War that they all find themselves in the same place, at the same time. Tony is nervous, but he's a big boy, he can deal. Or he can until Steve shows up.
The first chapter: team assembling, team feels, a shitton of discussion of who chose what Hogwarts house and why. Also, everyone is in shock that Tony is going as a Hufflepuff.
The second chapter is all Steve/Tony, so if that's what you want, you can skip straight to there. Basically it's crack, but it's, eh, melancholic and a little sad and not funny.

Then he hears Tony telling someone that "it's okay, he's over Steve, that's ancient history now" and suddenly his worldview is flipped. Tony had been into him, maybe in love with him, and he hadn't noticed? But everything's okay, because they can still keep being friends as they had been.
Somehow, this doesn't make him feel better.
