Summary
Magic twisted around the boy and curly hair turned to soft fur beneath Techno’s fingers. The boy’s face elongated to a small snout, his feet turned to hooves and the boy’s sobs were replaced with pitiful whining squeaks.
Between one blink and the next, Techno was face-to-face with a Piglin kit— the little thing’s eyes shining with tears and his ears flat in misery.
A chuff exploded out of Techno’s chest before he could stop it and the kit squealed. He tugged at Techno’s grip with newfound fervor. The man felt little tendrils of defensive magic run up his arms but overusing magic had more drawbacks than an awful smell.
The kit was far too weak now to escape him.

Tommy can feel his heart pounding against his ribs. This is it, he thinks excitedly. My first real birthday. Techno’s gonna say something, because finally, I get to have one. I get to be important.
(He had looked it up - usually on birthdays, people would wish you a ‘happy’ one as one of the first things they said to you that day. Courtesy, or something.)
Stupid as it is, he is ridiculously excited to hear two meaningless words.
But for some reason, Techno doesn’t say that. Instead, he just pats Tommy on the back, mutters something about breakfast, then disappears down the stairs.

Tommy had always been told by his other foster families that his birthday wasn't worth celebrating. He's used to it.
He is not, however, used to the day being completely forgotten.

The goddess brought her hand over to rest on the boy’s forehead, her eyes slipping closed. “I name you Theseus, first of your blood, ruler of the Antarctic Empire and all its lands. Forever may he reign.”
“Forever may he reign,” Phil echoed in just a whisper.
Phil didn’t register the rest of the goddess’s stay. He did not remember walking back to the palace or how the doors opened for him when he stepped through. He only came back to himself as his sons looked at him patiently, ready to be told about their brand new charge, the new ruler of the empire.
“Boys,” he whispered, no longer being able to hold back his tears. “Meet Theseus. Your brother.”
They had seen kings rise and fall for as long as they had lived. They would forever serve their land and never had they failed, but this… having the very king they were meant to serve be their brother in blood would pose the biggest challenge to their loyalty yet.or
King Theseus, or Tommy as he likes to be known, swears he's been spited by the gods - because his reign just keeps getting harder.

Money was always a problem in the average Tommy Innit household. Having to switch from job to job, or just straight up not having one was a major cash burner. He was also having problems affording medical supplies due to his unfortunate (and illegal) crime-fighting hobby (oops).
That’s why this job was so important.
(Yes, he chose a job at the hero tower. Was it supposed to be a joke? Yes. Did he get the job accidentally? Yes. Did he regret it? Well-)
Maybe the injuries were a slight problem, especially when the people giving them to you were either of your three bosses. Truthfully, it was a big problem.
OR
Tommy tries to manage a job at the hero tower while fighting crime on the side. What could go wrong?! With Tubbo by his side, certainly nothing!
