However, when met with Khun Aguero Agnis, he cannot help but think he might have found the fruit, the one which will hatch his seed, and become a tree in turn, as his heir. He cannot help but be fascinated by this being, even as it becomes twisted and broken by all the knives that cut it to the core throughout its life.
He tried to view it as a pet project, something that didn't really matter to him. He thought that was what Aguero was. No more than a performer for him to watch, for him to be temporarily entertained by.
Except, he realized. Perhaps too late. Khun Aguero Agnis was Khun Eduan's son.

Summary
When Zuko arrived at the South Pole to capture the Avatar, the Spirits did not shine kindly on him and he finds himself a prisoner of the most pathetic excuse for a Tribe he has ever had the misfortune of seeing. He hates the seadog teen who managed to capture him with a boomerang, of all things. He hates that the boy is clearly clueless about how to treat prisoners of war. He hates that he's being treated well.

Sokka's boomerang is never to be underestimated. The only issue now is that he's accidentally captured a Fire National - not knowing it's the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation. With no way to send the guy home, or release him without letting him freeze to death, Sokka finds himself in an uncomfortable situation which makes him feel weirder the more he thinks about it and Zuko definitely isn't making it any easier for him.Bookmarked by IncorigableFable

Only once in your life can you call upon the aid of your soulmate in a time of crisis where the spirits will teleport them to you until they deem the danger you're in has passed.
A helpful boon but one that can come at a great cost if utilized wrongly. Most parents will teach their children to use this call with extreme caution. To make sure it's a situation where your soulmate can actually help and not one where you have doomed them to extreme harm or to an early death.
Sokka knew all the tragic cautionary tales told to children to express this, he knew his soulmate wasn't some spirit, just another human like him. The last thing he wanted was to put their life at risk in a situation far beyond them, to sentence them to die by his side. But none of these known facts even registered in his panic when at the age of 10 the Fire Nation attacks his village and in desperation to save himself and his mother, he seeks out any help he can get, summoning his soulmate before the soldier's flames descend upon them.
Maybe he should count himself lucky that his soulmate was one who had the ability to stop the fire from consuming them all.

The man stared for a long time. The smile he bore had been completely wiped clean as he studied the scarring. Zuko’s skin itched with anxiety at the odd attention he was given and shot a scowl at the warrior, startling him out of his thoughts. The man offered an apologetic yet awkward smile as he patted his chest and started to speak. It took Zuko a moment to realize that what was being said was a very horribly butchered attempt at Fire Nation formal language. A horrendous introduction.
“My name is Sokka, son of Chief Hakoda.” He introduced with what the savage may have thought was casual ease judging by the sideways smile and the warmth in his eyes. Then proceeded to ask, pointing at Zuko to get his meaning across. “Your name is Li, right?”
‘Okay so they don’t know who I am.’ Zuko didn’t let his sigh of relief show as he nodded slowly in confirmation.

Zuko slips into the scouting party that is sent on a mission to gather intel on an Earth Kingdom encampment only to be ambushed by Water Tribe warriors and taken as a prisoner of war. Zuko finds himself masquerading as Private Li, the Fire Nation scout as he receives a one way trip to the South Pole.

Zuko has been cursed. Maybe since birth, given how unlucky he was, but now well and truly, he was cursed: to become a turtleduck during full moons. But it can't stand in the way of his mission to regain his honour. He must find the Avatar, and perhaps being a turtleduck can give him the advantage he needs to capture him. He'll travel the seas, and to the ends of the world if he has to.
Meanwhile, Sokka and Katara have found the Avatar without trying. Now they're being chased by a guy with a bad haircut and horrible scar, as well as a curious duck. For some reason it really doesn't like Aang.

Just how will Sokka navigate all the obstacles and hardships life throws at him? How much will he have to endure before he runites with Katara?
This series is my love letter to the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. I fell in love with it when it was released back in 2005, and loved it ever since. I intend to rewrite all 3 books of the series with a darker and more mature twist, so join me on this Canon Divergence rewrite!
