Steve is one big ball of sexual frustration and mediocre social skills, so Tony, being the nice friend that he is, goes to a matchmaking service to find him a partner. There he finds Bucky, a former Black Ops vet with a mysterious metal arm and a charming smile, and brings him home to Steve. Steve is too busy being hung up on his own insecurities to actually be in a real relationship right now, but he and Bucky hatch a plan to fake date for a week so that Tony will get off his back. What could possibly go wrong with a plan like that?

Steve and Bucky are discovered on the bank of the Potomac & brought to Stark Tower. From the beginning, everyone has one thing on their mind: Help Bucky. It’s going to be hard, but they're ready to give it everything they’ve got - and they’re the Avengers, so they’ve got quite a lot.

“Hey, Buck,” Steve says, his voice soft. Bucky lays on his side, pressing a cheek to the soft carpeting, wishing he hadn’t ruined all his blankets. He hates feeling cold and it’s a little cold in his room. “You don’t have to talk or come out or anything, but… I’m going to lay here, okay? All night. I’m going to stay right here so you don’t forget that it’s different now. So you don't forget that you’re safe. You’re not alone.”
Bucky doesn’t know what to say to that. Even if he did know, his tongue is doing that heavy-sticky thing again. Instead, he slides his flesh fingers under the crack in the door, barely able to fit the tips, and waits. A moment passes. Then Steve’s fingers are pressing right back.
And maybe Steve is right. Maybe things are different, maybe he is safe, maybe he’s not alone.
Maybe - just maybe - he’ll be able to get himself back after all, piece by piece.

Contrary to what most people assume, Steve likes the twenty-first century. True, it’s taken some getting used to and there have definitely been challenges; namely the public’s fascination with his personal life, folks more interested in Captain America than Steve as a person, and his teams’ endless attempts at setting him up with someone, no matter how many times he tells them to stop. Aside from that, Steve thinks he’s done OK adapting to this new world, and is nowhere near as old fashioned as most think. Except for one thing, a secret longing he’s had from back when he was poor, small and seldom given a second glance; having a professional matchmaker help him find his dreamed for omega, a partner to share den with and who would invite him into their Nest. But they no longer exist. Or so he thinks. Until a stroke of good fortune brings him into contact with Judith Bergmann, who introduces him to an omega named Bucky Barnes.
Told in five parts, what follows is a slow courtship filled with plenty of obstacles, and threats big and small, but also letters, food, laughter, pedicures, lace panties, Pop Tarts, Steve displaying his colors, two ball busting dogs, a feline terrorist, and most importantly, love.

Steve clears his throat a few times. "Look, uh, Bucky. I want to apologize for my crass behaviour earlier this week. It was... It was rude of me to put you in such a compromising position at your place of employment, and I understand if you do not wish to interact with me any further -"
"Captain Rogers," Bucky interrupts. He's fully grinning now, unable to stop himself. "It's fine, I promise. Everyone says weird stuff under morphine, it's pretty much a law of the universe. Believe me, I didn't find it rude at all."
Steve swallows, averting his eyes as Bucky sets his dinner tray on the table beside the bed. "I just... I didn't want to make you uncomfortable."
Bucky laughs quietly. "Don't worry Captain, you didn't make me uncomfortable. It was sweet."
He doesn't know why he adds that last bit, but it makes Steve's cheeks bloom red again. "Call me Steve. Please."
Steve looks up at him through long, thick eyelashes, and god, Bucky is in danger with this one.
"Steve," Bucky repeats softly. "Don't worry. You were sweet."

SHIELD was the only intelligence agency that assigned werewolf and vampire agents to work together in the field, but the program had been a staggering success. They compensated each other’s weaknesses, complemented each other’s strengths, and a werewolf could feed a vampire and shake off the effects faster than ordering a pizza.
Bucky knew all that. What he didn't know was why this particular vampire, one Agent Steve Rogers, was holding out a protein bar. They were perched in the rafters of a warehouse, waiting for not-overly punctual arms dealers to show up and deal arms, had been stuck up here for a couple of hours, but none of that explained vampires suddenly offering snacks.
In his near decade as a werewolf in SHIELD, Bucky had worked with a lot of vampires, and they all tended to be pretty much the same. Steve Rogers was different, didn't fit the vampire mould, and Bucky couldn't quite figure out why.
Not that it really mattered. Steve was just someone he was occasionally paired with on SHIELD assignments. It wasn't like he was going to have any effect on Bucky's life.
