Summary
For generations, four Clans have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by their warrior ancestors. But ThunderClan is in grave danger, and the sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day.
Noble warriors are dying - and some deaths are more mysterious than others.
In the midst of this turmoil appears an ordinary young village kid named Rusty...who may yet turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.

Saphira cuddled his hand.
Eragon grinned happily. "You're getting more affectionate as you get older too."
'' But you're not, '' Saphira said, nibbling his finger. She had also gotten better at talking and comebacks.
Eragon's jaw dropped as he pulled his hand back after she nibbled at it. "Did... Did she just say that?"
Saphira turned around, ripping into the squirrel.

Summary
Saphira was sniffing of an ant hill. She recoiled, shaking her head as she sneezed furiously.
Eragon chuckled, kneeling down to Saphira, brushing the ants off of her muzzle. "What did you try to eat this time, my friend? I thought I taught you better than to just dive in like that."
Saphira scratched her muzzle with a claw, looking up at him with big, guilty eyes.
Eragon pet her nose in consolation.
"It's fine, saphira. These things happen. Just don't swallow random ants next time?"
He begun scratching her chin as if she was a dog.
"Good girl... Who's a good girl? Who's a good girl?"
The hatchling swished her tail, mouth gapping as she leaned into his hand.
Eragon continued to scratch her chin, still talking as if she is a dog.
"Yes you are. Oh, yes you are... Who's my little princess? Who's my little princess?"

"Now, listen. I will be back to pick you up a couple minutes late." She said. The girl picked at a rhinestone on her jacket. "Peridot," Aurelia repeated.
"Okay." Peridot mumbled.
"Okay," Aurelia continued, "and I better not get any calls today about your bad behavior. Got it?"
"Yes mam," Peridot said quietly.
"Off you go." Her mother said with a wave of her hand.

Squirrelpaw doesn't know what to do. Cats are dying, the forest is being torn apart around her, and her sister has just told her that, according to a prophecy from their warrior ancestors, she and her best friend will lead ThunderClan to destruction. In short: everything seems to be going wrong all at once.
And then, in her dreams, she receives a message from StarClan directly. A warning about one last, impossible, twist of fate.
In another time, Firepaw the apprentice has just become Fireheart, warrior of ThunderClan, and is ready to defend his adopted clan from any threat - be it rogues, enemy warriors, or even their own scheming deputy. On the night of his vigil, he isn't sure what to expect, but it definitely isn't the mysterious cat who emerges from the forest.
The cat who claims to be his daughter.
(Or: Squirrelpaw, through worldly machinations unknown, is sent back in time to when her father was a young warrior, her mother was still an apprentice, and the dreaded Tigerclaw still stalked the forest.
This can only go so well.)
