Summary
When Avid is at the end of his rope, struggling to stand on his own in the city, a strange meeting with a lawyer changes everything. Hunted down by a relative Avid never knew about, He gains everything he could ever want in the world with just a few requirements. 1. He must travel to the Oakhurst Motel, the family's remaining legacy, that is located practically in the middle of nowhere. 2. He must return the Hotel to it's former glory and run and care for it just like his ancestors once did in order to keep access to his inheritance. 3. Mind the squatters and promote a sanctuary for all the 'weary travelers' to have a place to rest. Just what Has Avid gotten himself into by accepting this inheritance?

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

It looks like this next statement wasn’t originally given as an interview with us, but instead found its way to the Institute attached to a bundle of blueprints deemed anomalous. The blueprints, as best as I can tell, are down in Artifact Storage now, but the attached letter got sent to us for archival.It’s fairly long, and appears to have been written in 2010 by an unnamed professor of architectural design at an unspecified university- probably in America, judging by the spellings- regarding concerns about a student named Tango Tek.

Small warning: I didn't realise that this would cause problems, but the reader is going to be quite mean in the first few chapters.

Xisuma watches over all of his hermits, in a metaphorical sense. But unbeknownst to everyone, he does some of his watching in a literal sense. Every night, he stands guard by one special hermit’s bedside. There is nothing wrong with this.
Xisuma’s just doing his duty as their admin. He’s going the extra mile for them, because he loves and cherishes them very much.
He’s sacrificing his own rest to protect theirs. Nothing could be wrong about that.
What he’s doing is good, selfless, and right. But no one has to know.
