Summary
On the Isle of the Lost, there are no first born children. All of them were taken by the order of King Adam to be raised in Auradon. Well, almost all. Two are left behind while the rest have been saved and placed into the homes of Auradon citizens.
The first is Carlos DeVil, and his life on the island has left him in the hands of Cruella, who shows no mercy in her abuse and torment. The second is Mal, a girl left to her own devices with only her hate being encouraged. Finally, after nearly 16 years, King Adam sends a letter. A letter the asks for the children to come and live in Auradon.

I settled down beside him, pulling the covers up to my chin, and my teeth began to rattle again and a strange near-nauseous quiver twitched in the center of my abdomen before Boris’ hand thumped me directly on my stomach. It stayed there, the bitten nail beds and the scabs on the corners rasping against the fabric of the sheet, and he patted me in a mildly condescending way.
But I know he didn’t mean it that way. Because I knew Boris, and he knew me.
“Back to bed.”
He said, in a lilting, amused mumble, and he was still just as fucked up as I was.
That was the first time he’d brought me back to reality, and every time after I never forgot the way his hand felt that day. Warm through the barrier, steadying and grounding, and if I grabbed it too quick and held on too hard, he didn’t say a damn thing.

Even harder to believe is him agreeing to pretend to be her boyfriend to convince her family and friends that she truly has moved on from her mother's death. But it's hard to know what's pretend and what's not when real feelings get involved, and tensions rise when they both realise they're no longer keeping up their façade as a friendly favour.

Summary
Glenn’s life has fallen apart, and he's just trying to get back on his feet— he’s moved back to his hometown, got a job at some pizza place, and is just trying to save up so he can afford to move back to Atlanta and away from his parents' disappointed gazes.
But on a routine delivery out to the trailer park, Glenn ends up running into some trouble… trouble, in the form of some crazy meth head lady trying to eat his face off. Turns out, the whole trailer park has gone topsy-turvy, and Glenn ends up taking off into the woods to preserve his whole 'still living' situation.
Then there was that strange, ominous radio broadcast that he’d caught wind of earlier… Before he can worry too much about all of that, he comes across the path of some guy who looks like he lives in the woods. As fate would have it, he's the brother to the guy Glenn was trying to deliver his pizza to, and his name's Daryl. And, out of everyone in the world, he seems like the best guy for Glenn to hitch his cart to, when the whole world is about to go up in flames.
