Summary
After everything he's done and gone through, Shadow doesn't feel like he belongs on Earth. He doesn't deserve the generosity of the Wachowski's, especially Sonic's effortless compassion.
Tails discovers that Shadow might actually be part of the legions of Black Doom, known as the Black Arms. Shadow doesn't know if he belongs any more on the Black Comet than he does on Earth, but he wants to at least see for himself if there could be a potential place for him.
Shadow is content to go alone. In fact, he plans to. But Sonic is insistent that a journey like this should not be undertaken alone. Shadow can't refuse him even if he tried, so the two hedgehogs go to Black Comet to discover the truth behind Shadow's past.
And maybe, by learning more about the Black Arms and saving the planet, they'll find their way to Shadow's future.

Alternate season 2/3, very Eugene/Rapunzel focused (more so than show) with lots of hurt!Eugene. Picking up in season 1's The Alchemist Returns and continuing through second season. Varian goes with the crew on the journey in season 2 instead of Hookfoot and Shorty. Some reinterpretations, some fill-ins, some original stories, some alternate episodes. This is going to be a mixed bag in how much it follows the season . Non-con tag is about Eugene's relationship with Stalyan, which will be explored/explained in more depth. That storyline is where this fic started, so it will take up some space.

Meanwhile back with Rapunzel, Caine and Rapunzel are due some bonding time, Eugene has an important purchase to make and brings Cassandra along so they can chat about love and sexuality. Eventually it comes time to cross the ocean and Caine just so happens to own a ship! And on the other side of the ocean they encounter Vigor once more, before Eugene is faced with his past in Pincosta.
