Summary
The year is 1300DR, and Astarion Ancunín awakens in a coffin, driven by a compulsive urge to escape and find Lord Cazador Szarr. Astarion, scared of the unknown fate that awaits him on the Fugue Plane, chooses immortality and accepts the vampire's dark gift. It is only later that he learns how long eternity will be - and how Cazador intends to use the beautiful young lawyer to feed his insatiable lust for power, control ... and blood.
***
“Are you here to claim my gift?” Cazador asked from atop his throne. “Will you embrace immortality, my son? You have tasted death once – how did you like it?”Astarion bowed his head, terror soaring through him. He wasn’t even forty, still an elf-child - he thought he had so much more time to make his mark on the world, earn his place in the kingdom of one God or another. The memory of dimming blackness, the idea of being trapped on the Fugue Plane, his soul unclaimed for eternity, made him shake. All he wanted was one last chance, to survive, to live.
“I accept,” he choked out, not really knowing what he was agreeing to – but it didn’t matter. Anything to escape his fate.
“Then you shall be mine,” Cazador said, rising slowly. “Forever.”

*funky opening music* Last time on Sailor Star!
Astarion is Sailor Star, the scion entrusted by the gods to stop evil and the Pretty Guardian of Baldur’s Gate! But being a guardian isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Between juggling fighting crime, his part time job, and scrounging up his next meal, all he wants is to finally lay the smack down on his hot professor boyfriend (in the sexy way) *and* on his rival hero, the Wizard of Waterdeep (in a non-sexy, much bloodier way). His greatest problem? Someone’s been infusing Devil monsters with magic, making them stronger! What’s Sailor Star to do?

"The Cave Man’s Hole," the bar’s sign reads, a crude mess of paint and text. It’s a no frills dive on the wrong side of town, a place where men come and go. A good place to hunt.
A monosyllabic modern-au for the Baldur Cave.

Summary
Winter is the only thing that lives, a wild thing that haunts the forest. He stalks through the vast woodlands of the world, his bare feet crunching in harshly packed snow. His breaths are as cold as the wind, and no life vapor pours from his mouth. Tear tracks create frozen rivers down his wasted cheeks.
'If you ever see one like him, fall to your knees,' the mortals warn their children. 'For you are in the presence of a god.'

Summary
Gale had desperately clasped Astarion's wrist, preventing him from fully wrenching away. From fleeing. And for a brief moment Astarion was ready to lash out with all of the feral fury a starving spawn had to offer.
The memory of that scorching touch was like a scar. The imprint of his lightly calloused, bare palm on Astarion's slender wrist was an invisible, white-hot brand upon his flesh. It was only Gale's wide, worried eyes and immediate surrender of Astarion's captured limb that saved him from being torn to ribbons by long-forgotten vampiric claws.
He loathed it. Touching and being touched.
People did not touch Astarion and survive.
Astarion did not touch people destined to live.
---
Astarion has a complicated relationship with physical touch. It brings up a wellspring of memories best left forgotten, and he doesn't even know if he could enjoy it anymore should he ever let anyone close enough to try... or five times Astarion sees Gale being held and has a lot of difficult feelings about it + the one time he does it himself and knows exactly how he feels about it.

Summary
Perhaps he was looking a bit too comfortable, because as he pulled his laptop from his bag, the gray cat a few tables down rose into a languid stretch and began a leisurely stroll in his direction. It was a bit funny looking, its head crooked slightly to the side and its steps a bit unsure. Though Astarion was certain he was about to get a face full of tuna breath, the cat paused a short distance away, content to sit and stare.
Lovely.
---
Astarion is the deeply under-appreciated social media manager for ProFang Ascension, an online media company, where he is constantly trying to put out the fires started by his terrible boss. Fortunately for him, his dear friend Shadowheart has just the thing to help him decompress- a voucher for the sleepy little cat café she works at.
Or, a slow-paced, laid-back, extremely fluffy first meeting between an Astarion who is trying really hard to have a bad time, and a very tired Gale who will ensure that does not happen.

Summary
Gale looked down from the heavens as Astarion frantically hit Tav on the chest, pressing his bleeding arm to her blue lips, desperately trying anything to bring her back.
Astarion sobbed and yelled at the sky, holding Tav's wet, bruised, and bleeding body on the rocky shores where she had washed up.
With a sudden gasp, Tav's head rose with a choking sound. Astarion immediately reached to hold her head up, pushing the sopping wet hair away from her face.
Tav looked up at Astarion with a question in her eyes, but all he could do was pull her into an embrace as he sobbed and held her.
Gale waved and the image disappeared, once again alone in his tower in the Astral Plane.
He should have left it at that, he knew that she was alive, confirmed that sending her soul back had worked. He should have been able to move on, let her live her life with Astarion, and forget all about the mortal girl he used to love.
He should feel happy for her second chance of life, proud of his ability to so easily take her memories of him, wiping her mind clean of how he had destroyed her.
So then why did he feel completely and utterly devastated?

Summary
“Ah, so these contraptions do stay still. Very interesting to observe when it’s not actively trying to kill me,” Gale commented, circling Astarion’s car as if sizing it up. “These are carriages of some sort I presume? Electrical? No horses or magic needed?”
Astarion rummaged in his jacket pocket, producing keys. He slid his hand across the trunk, up the back, and slapped the roof. “Actually, this has about 120 horsepower, and this baby can fit so much existential dread.” Astarion smiled smugly at the meme reference Gale would neither understand nor appreciate.
“The power of 120 horses… That sounds absolutely terrifying.” Gale’s face turned pale, his cheeks beginning to match his shirt.
Astarion gets more than he bargained for when he wishes his life weren't so mundane. It seems the universe decided to grant his wish when it dropped off 'Gale of Waterdeep' from a literal portal in the side of a wall.
Will he be able to help the estranged wizard back to Faerun? With the enlisted help of someone an ocean away, he may.

Summary
What if Astarion, grieving and haunted by the passage of time, became the first worshipper of the newly ascended God of Ambition, Gale, in a strange bid for connection, purpose, and perhaps just a little bit of chaos?
If you like…
- Immortal Angst Meets Divine Snark: Dive into themes of mortality, faith, creativity, and legacy as Astarion and Gale redefine what it means to live forever.
- Found Family and Bittersweet Farewells: Witness the final legacy of the Baldur’s Gate 3 party as their lives intertwine, grow, and fade, leaving Astarion to grapple with what it means to endure.
- Wit and Whimsy with a Hefty Dose of Heartache: Almost everyone dies, but we can laugh about it.
…this fic is for you!Canon-Caveat: This story happens post-canon and I think is mostly plausible as a canon follow-on, with the exception that I'm ignoring the implications from the epilogue that Gale's worship is springing up organically around Faerun.
