This dedication was nothing more but a bitter reminder that come morning, she must make a decision and remove him from service.
It would be the first time she’ll ever be directly responsible for someone else’s fate. Treason warranted death as punishment, yet she could not give it in clear conscience — Ser Criston had indeed followed her orders under her own less than noble interest. He had been loyal, to a point.
Yet, she knew what she must do. No complication would stand in her way; not now, not ever, even if she had to hide the blood under her fingernails.
