He’s never had a pet before and this creature has a history of servere behavioral problems, but he can’t let the poor thing stay at the shelter forever without trying to save it. How hard could exotic pet ownership be.

Once upon a time, a depressed teen from Brooklyn fell down a well and befriended the lonely prince of a dark empire. And as far as Luigi is concerned, the story ends there. Bowser doesn't recognize him at all and he could not be more over his goth phase.
Then they get trapped in a cave-in together, and Bowser starts acting a little too familiar.

It was just another day living in the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser had kidnapped Princess Peach, and the Mario brothers stepped up to save her again. Only this time, Mario finds himself delayed and Luigi runs off ahead of him. It shouldn't have been a big deal. But when he caught back up, Luigi was acting like Mario was the villain, the Princess was missing, and Bowser wasn't the one making toad citizens shake in fear.
