The headsman grabbed my shoulder and gently knelt me down, I looked to Hadvar who made a hand sign I recognized from practitioners of the Imperial Cult that lived in my mothers keep. It was a sign of Talos, meant to calm the spirits before going into battle. I felt the hard boot being pressed against my back and knelt forward, turning my head to the side to look at the tower and the sun rising slowly over it.
A roar split the sky.
