Leo had always been a friendly kind of a guy, a social butterfly if you will! So of course he'd make friends with this new guy who liked the color purple, like, a LOT, and talked about a mysterious partner while also cracking a few jokes with him.
(This butterfly roams too free, unaware of the dangers of the outside...it's up to the one who finds him to ensure he stays safe, after all. Butterflies are fragile, especially those expecting newborns...)

“Two minutes, give or take.” Donnie managed between gritted teeth before another contraction stole his breath, unable to stop himself from curling forward as much as his stomach would allow, hands returning to brace against the bed. His stance widened as he tried to sway his hips against the pain.
Donnie shuddered as another trickle of fluid streamed down his thigh. Leo leaned down, tracing the flow back up between Donnie’s legs until he could see—
Holy shit.
Leo straightened, moving onto his feet. “Okay, looks like we’re definitely having some babies, baby.”

And Splinter, being so caught up in his own twisted mind and past, just believed it was brotherly love until he decided to play a bigger role in their lives as he fought his way out of depression.
