Vash puts on a good front, but really, anyone with half a brain could see past the act, if they really wanted too. Most people didn’t want to, and that was the issue, he supposes. And Vash, well, he is an expert at pushing off his own needs, Wolfwood learned that lesson well. Vash would jump to make sure everyone else’s needs were met, but when it came to what he needed, he was just not willing to ask.

Summary
This is an Au in which Wolfwood is a Private Eye hired by Knives to track down his missing brother.
Wolfwood decides the best course of action is to befriend Vash and try and coax him home, but things get messy when he realizes that there is something deeply wrong with Vash, and he starts to question if forcing him home is the moral thing to do.
This work is neither in the stampede nor 98 canon, i love both very dearly so it is a wonderful little Frankenstein of both versions of the characters.

Oh fuck. He’s coming back. Tommy curls up so none of his important organs are accessible, the guy has only strangled him up till now, but there was blood on the tarp, so maybe he likes to stab too. Tommy doesn’t want to be stabbed anywhere important.
Techno just sits on the other end of the couch and bounces his leg, mostly just looking at the fire, but occasionally glancing at Tommy.
“So, uh, you do anything interesting in school today?” he asks, Tommy would laugh at his awkwardness if he wasn’t so confused.
“I failed a math test,” he says. God he wishes he could go back to that being his biggest problem.

“Um,” he replies, wondering how to break it to the poor churchgoer that he is not a priest and certainly not a father. Then, he peeks through the grate to see the very very handsome man with the sweet smile he had run into in the market earlier.

He would have even preferred the sappy shit the aunties at the orphanage gossiped about. Soulmate Markers that told the day they would meet, maybe even a mark that would fit perfectly with their Soulmate. Something sappy and all together nauseating.
But no, he didn't even have the boring matching marks or even the more common Marker of sharing scars.
He got a fucking bird.
