After playing outside and having fun together, the Smiling Critters head inside DogDay's dog house to continue their games. Eventually, everyone gets tired, and CatNap has the bright idea to read a story before they turn in for the night.
They decide on a fantasy fairy tale, one with a princess trapped in a tower, a brave prince and his trusty knights sent to save her, an all-knowing fortune teller, a fateful messenger, an apothecary, and a special mage and potions master. The story ends with the prince saving the princess from her tower, and they all live happily ever after.
The Critters smile sleepily as they begin to doze off, but what they don't know is that their storybook carries a little magic, and they are in for an adventure of their own!
